During the off-season we often find tennis pros testing or switching gear. Is Madison Keys switching to Yonex?
Have you spotted a tennis pro testing a new racquet or a shoe? Let us know in the comments or via Instagram.
Off-season observations
We have made several off-season observations already. The first one of note is that WTA star Madison Keys played an exhibition against Sloane Stephens with a blacked-out Yonex Ezone instead of her regular Wilson Blade Pro. Is it the Yonex Ezone 2025? Is she officially making a switch or just testing? Give us your best guess in the comments.
This is similar to what Tommy Paul did last year, when he went from his Blade 98 to a Yonex VCORE 98. It is obvious that Yonex are making moves on the racquet market. In the USA, they already have players like Ben Shelton, Frances Tiafoe and Brandon Nakashima.
Francisco Cerundolo’s new racquet
Francisco Cerundolo’s racquet has been the PT57A for quite a while under a HEAD Prestige cosmetic. But he has been seen training with a bright red/orange racquet rumored to be the new HEAD Radical 2025. Is this a switch to a new racquet or does HEAD want him to endorse the Radical instead of the Prestige since the popularity of that line of racquet is diminished?
I think it might still be his PT57A in a new cosmetic, but it could also be time for him to seek more power from the frame. It will be fascinating to see if he rocks up the first events of the season with a new racquet.
Let me know if you have spotted some other interesting racquet switches or gear updates?
We have previously reported on Frances Tiafoe’s possible move from Nike to New Balance. But I am sure there will be plenty of more switches coming up in early 2025.
