The Adidas Ubersonic 5 tennis shoe has been revealed and we have tested it.
The Adidas Ubersonic 5 is the fifth generation of one of Adidas’ most popular tennis shoes.
As you might be able to hear from the name, the Ubersonic is a speed-focused shoe. There is a minimalist mesh, with upper material that is prioritizing lightness and breathability.
The intended fit is glove-like. It is still pretty stable thanks to their Speedframe technology.
We will create a more in-depth review, but overall impressions were that this is our favorite Adidas tennis shoe, so far. The new Barricades are pretty heavy (but superior in durability), and the Cybersonic fit was not to our liking, as it felt a bit too plasticky and cramped.

What the team thought
We were involved in the Adidas Ubersonic 5 super review with the team at Tennis Warehouse (and several other play-testers) and these were some opinions.
Loved the level of traction, it was perfect for sliding” – Beckett Chung, TennCom
“Pretty impressed so far with the Ubersonic 5. It’s a lot more rigid and support-oriented. I like that I feel really locked in in the heel. 2 thumbs up for me so far.” – Chris, TW Playtester
“Overall, I felt like it was a really speedy shoe. I felt low to the ground and I felt like the shoe was really responsive because of the snug fit.” – Will Boucek, Tennis Tribe
“I feel like this new Ubersonic is really an explosive shoe, you can really slide with confidence and get into the shot. So I felt really stable and quite solid. But they’re still lighter than the previous generation” – Jonas Eriksson, Tennis Nerd
The downside of the Ubersonic 5 seems to be its durability.

There is lots to like from this shoe, but since a shoe is such a personal thing, it is obviously always best to test where possible or try to get as much of a well-rounded opinion as you can before buying.
