Isospeed is a brand based out of the Isosport factory in Eisenstadt, Austria. This is our Isospeed Rexxxer string review.
Isospeed has their own strings like Rexxxer, Black Fire, Grey Fire, and so on, but they also make strings for many other different brands.
We were impressed by their attention to detail and passion for the process of making strings when we visited their factory in January.
Black Fire is an excellent round control string, but there is also the Black Fire S, a six-sided string. I have enjoyed both versions of Black Fire and will do a more detailed review later, but overall, I have been impressed by the quality of strings coming out of the Isospeed factory.
This Isospeed Rexxxer string review was interesting since I have never tested an oval string before. The green color is quite rare, as most green poly strings on the market are lime green and this shade is darker. To be fair, the color is what I like the least about this string, but that is a matter of taste, of course.
Specifications
The Isospeed Rexxxer string comes in only one gauge at the moment, 1.25. But that is the most popular gauge on the market.
- Gauge: 16L/1.25mm
- Length: 40ft/12m
- Composition: Co-polyester
- Colour: Green
- Shape: Oval
Playability and performance
The Isospeed Rexxxer string surprised me with a nice sensation on impact. Not too mushy and soft, but not too stiff and firm either. Somewhere in the middle. The spin potential seemed above average, and the launch angle was controlled. It is a little more powerful than what I tend to look for in poly strings, as I am a fan of strings like Solinco Tour Bite, Luxilon 4G, Toroline O-Toro Tour and Nordicdots TS 127. But I did appreciate the mix of comfort and control that the string provided.
I would say the string plays closest to a round string, but with a little more bite from the oval shape. I could see other manufacturers looking into this shape, because it offers a good playability. I tested the string in the Tecnifibre Tfight 300 and the Babolat Pure Aero 98. Tension: 51/49 lbs (23/22 kg).
Tension maintenance was decent, about average for polyester strings. I think this is a good time to remind players that you need to restring polyester strings relatively often, even if they don’t break. The strings lose their elasticity, (go dead) and then you don’t get the properties of snapback and spin potential that makes them good in the first place. A dead poly might also hurt your arm in the long run.
I like this string and I think it plays a bit like the Black Fire, but softer and with a bit more spin potential. I think Black Fire remains my favorite Isospeed string, but if you want a slightly softer feel (Black Fire is firm), then Rexxxer should be checked out.
A pleasant review and an interesting string with a unique shape. I want to hear what you think about this string in the comments.
Hi, this string is from Eisenstadt and not Vienna. I know – I live there ;)
I just played with the Isospeed Rexxxxer 1.25 (I think the exact dimensions are 1.24/1.28, oval-shaped). Very fast and easy stringing process, moderate-to-low stretching while applying tension on it. It’s the second time I’ve played it with the same racket, the Diadem Elevate V2 FS98, but this time I aimed for 20kg/19kg, since I’m coming back in tennis after a 5-month-break.
During my 1.5 hour of straight hitting, I noticed that it had a short dwell-time, not very informatice feedback, slightly mute, but not “plasticky” sensation. A controlled string for sure in full-bed, I bet it can make a very good choice for cross-string.
Isospeed Black Fire: the “tour” version of Baseline series.
Isospeed Black Fire S 1.25: played it last year side-by-side with the Wilson Blade V5 16×19 and Yonex DR98, VEEEERY stretchy string, lively-powerful response, not much control.
Isospeed Grey Fire 1.25: played it last year with the Prince Synergy (tight 18×18, hefty swingweight, demanding frame), sits in-between the liveliness of Black Fire S and the low-powered Black Fire.

You are 100% correct, I have adjusted it.
