The ATP Vienna Open continues with two appealing Round of 16 matchups on Thursday, featuring an all-Italian clash of Sinner vs Cobolli as well as another Italian in Lorenzo Musetti taking on Argentine Tomas Martin Etcheverry.

Jannik Sinner vs Flavio Cobolli

World No. 2 and top seed Jannik Sinner enters this match in strong form after a dominant 6-0, 6-2 win over Daniel Altmaier in the opening round, showing no lingering effects from the cramps that forced him to retire in Shanghai. Sinner has been one of the top performers on hard courts this season and he arrives as one of the clear title favorites in Vienna.

Flavio Cobolli has enjoyed a decent year, entering Vienna ranked inside the top 25 and already got two ATP titles in 2025. He defeated Tomas Machac quite comfortably to reach this stage and will look to use his powerful forehand and first-strike style to try and challenge Sinner.

This will be their first career meeting on the ATP Tour.

Prediction: Sinner’s consistency at the highest level and his comfort on indoor hard courts make him the strong favorite. He’s also looking solid and injury free lately and Cobolli will need to play with controlled aggression and take initiative, just to stay in the game. He does not have a great record vs Top 10 opponents, expect Jannik to win in straight sets.

Lorenzo Musetti vs Tomas Martin Etcheverry

Lorenzo Musetti comes into this contest after navigating a tricky opener against Hamad Medjedovic. He has put together a solid season and remains in the race for the ATP Finals in Turin.

Tomas Martin Etcheverry is typically stronger on clay but has made strong improvements on hard courts this year, including some good results during the Asian swing. He earned his place in the Round of 16 by defeating qualifier Nicolai Budkov Kjaer. To upset Musetti, Etcheverry will need to test the Italian’s consistency and rely on a strong serving day and really disciplined baseline play.

Prediction: Can not see an upset here really, I expect Musetti to edge this one, likely in two tight sets.
