World No. 2 Jannik Sinner has just claimed his second career China Open title, delivering a solid performance to defeat American teenager Learner Tien in a straight-sets final, 6-2, 6-2. The victory in Beijing secures the Italian’s third title of the 2025 season.
Facing a first-time tour-level finalist in the 19-year-old Tien, Sinner was relentless, breaking the American’s serve early in both sets to take control of the match.
The win marks a successful return to the winner’s circle for Sinner following his loss to rival Carlos Alcaraz in the US Open final just weeks prior. The 24-year-old Italian, who has also lifted major trophies at the Australian Open and Wimbledon this year, joins an elite group, becoming only the third man (alongside Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal) to win the ATP 500 China Open multiple times.

Speaking after the match, Sinner praised his opponent while reflecting on his own performance. “It’s always special to win here in Beijing,” Sinner said. “Learner had an incredible week, and he’s a very tough player. I felt good on the court today and managed to execute my game plan well, especially with my forehand.”
Tien, who had a strong tournament by defeating both Lorenzo Musetti and Daniil Medvedev en route to the final, moves up to a career-high ranking. Despite the loss, the teenager showed moments of brilliance but was ultimately overwhelmed by the Italian’s level.
The victory allows Sinner to gain crucial ground in the ATP Race To Turin, though he still trails World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz, who clinched the title in Tokyo earlier this week before withdrawing from the upcoming Shanghai Masters (ankle injury). Sinner is now set to headline the field at the Masters 1000 event in Shanghai as a huge favorite to lift the trophy there as well.
