It’s now official, Roger Federer, one of the absolute top players to ever play on the ATP tour, has been elected into the International Tennis Hall of Fame. The Swiss maestro is receiving one of the sport’s highest honors just three years after his retirement from professional play.
The announcement cements his place among the game’s immortal figures, recognising a career that spanned more than two decades and truly changed the game.
Federer, 44, holds 20 Grand Slam singles titles, placing him among the all-time leaders. His record includes an unprecedented eight Wimbledon championships, six Australian Open titles, five US Open titles and a career Grand Slam completed with one French Open title. He also spent a record 310 weeks as the world’s No. 1 ranked player, including a record 237 consecutive weeks at the top.
Upon receiving the news, Federer expressed deep gratitude. “To be recognized in this way by the sport and by my peers is deeply humbling. I look forward to visiting Newport next August to celebrate this special moment with the tennis community.”

Not only did he break most records on court. Known for his elegant playing style, sportsmanship and overall global appeal, Federer became one of the most recognisable and beloved athletes in the world.

The official induction ceremony is typically held in Newport, Rhode Island, and is expected to take place next summer. Federer will then join other greats of the sport in the Hall of Fame.
