Bio and Career
Veronika Kudermetova was born on April 24th, 1997, in Kazan, Russia, and she began playing tennis at the age of 8. She is six years older then her sister Polina, also a top player on the WTA tour.
Turning pro in 2011, she reached a junior peak of no 23, with no major junior titles but a strong ITF circuit presence. Her first ITF title came in 2013 when she was partnering with Evgeniya Rodina and they won the $50k tournament at the Kazan Summer Cup.
In 2017 we saw her WTA tour debut and first Grand Slam experience (the Australian Open, lost in the first round of qualifying) but Veronika’s singles breakthrough came in 2021, winning her first WTA title at the Charleston Open, defeating Danka Kovacic 6-4, 6-2.
In 2022, she reached the Roland Garros quarterfinals, her best Grand Slam singles result, and hit a career-high number 9. Her doubles success is even more notable, winning the 2025 Wimbledon Championships with Elise Mertens, her first Grand Slam title, defeating Su-Wei Hsieh and Jelena Ostapenko.
Kudermetova has two WTA singles titles, nine WTA doubles titles, four ITF singles titles, and a 16-17 Top 10 record in singles.
