The Babolat Pure Aero 2026 racquets are highly anticipated by tennis players worldwide. They will be out in the beginning of the year, but what can we expect?
Babolat have been teasing the Babolat Pure Aero 2026 racquets on social media and their pro players are already using the new cosmetic.
We have been fortunate to test the 2026 Aeros in a prototype cosmetic. The first hit was during the Babolat 150th anniversary event in Wimbledon, but we have also spent the last few months getting used to the racquets.
It is one of the most hyped-up releases of the year, considering the popularity of the Aero. As I mentioned in previous pro player videos, there are 14 players using the Aero in the top 100 menโs rankings.
Where to buy?
The new Babolat Pure Aero 2026 racquets (gen 9) is now available for pre-order from Tennis Warehouse (North America) and shortly from Tennis Warehouse Europe (use code TNERD10 for a 10% discount) and Tennis Only (Australia). They will be fully in stock from 19 February.

Tech
This is the 9th generation of the Pure Aero and Babolat have been daring enough to do some big changes to a bestseller.
The most obvious change is the new throat design which data shows is supposed to be 6% more aerodynamic.
This new design should generate 3% more revolutions per minute according to high speed motion instruments.
There is an updated Flax tech, called NF2-tech 2.0. Flax is now located at 3 and 9 on the 98 to filter vibrations for enhanced feel and sound. The flax is based in the handle for the regular Pure Aero.

Players who will be using the Aero in 2026?

The Babolat Pure Aero will remain a very popular racquet on both the ATP and WTA Tour in 2026.
Aero on the ATP
Six-time Grand Slam winner (at the time of writing) Carlos Alcaraz will be their biggest ambassador and the racquets will be a bit more popular on the more spin-oriented ATP tour than the WTA Tour. Alcaraz is using the Aero 98.
At number five in the ATP rankings, we have Felix Auger-Aliassime, also endorsing the Aero 98. One question mark is Holger Rune, as he has been seen using other brands during off-season, but he will be out from the tour for a while more. ATP #37, Alex Michelsen, is using the Aero 100. #41 Arthur Fils is using the Aero 98. #52 Alexandre Muller is another Aero 98 player, while #53 Fabian Maroszan is endorsing the Aero 100. #71 Jesper de Jong is also a fan of the Aero 100, while #74 Jacob Fearnley plays the 98. One spot below him in the current rankings is Botic van de Zandschulp who plays the 100. Ethan Quinn and Adam Walton both use the Aero 98. Belgian Raphael Collignon as well. Aleksandar Vukic plays the 100, while Eliot Spizziri uses the 98.
That is just the top 100 ATP rankings as of January 7. Counting Aero users, we have the following stats:
Aero 98: Alcaraz, Aliassime, Fils, Muller, Fearnley, Quinn, Walton, Collignon, Spizziri = 9
Aero 100: Michelsen, Maroszan, de Jong, van de Zandschulp, Vukic = 5
So in total 14 players using Aeros in the ATP Tour top 100! That is a popular racquet.
Aero on the WTA
On the WTA Tour, the Aero is not as popular. We have Leylah Fernandez playing the Aero 98, while Jennifer Brady uses the Aero 100. Lucia Bronzetti is another Aero 100 player alongside Filipino superstar Alexandra Eala.
We are seeing more Pure Drives than Aeros on the WTA Tour.

Change is the enemy of staying exactly where you are and where you’ve been. If you are number one, no change is perfectly fine. If you notice in society, wealthy like to shower themselves in so many traditions. While most everyone who have not tasted success are willing to change, let’s remember we have a brain to determine whether or not change is good or not. Like for instance the weather we’re having. I say weather was better with PS RF97, Tour90, Dunlop MaxG, LiquidMetalRadical, OldPrestige, PrinceApproach, PS6.0 85, PS Classic95, APD, PDroddick, PA98. Could be climate change, cause I’m dirt poor.
Muller and Walton should be Aero 100, and Vukic is Aero 98.
Hi Jonas, big fan. Can you tell us when you will be able to post and the embargo lifted. I need a new stick. I currently play with an Aero, my friend decided to break it last night throwing it at a fence at match point he lost. Not to happy but positive side he is buying me one. I was going to get current gen, but I can wait if you think next gen is a better all around racket. I know you cannot say much but anything on this would be great
Hi Antonio,
On the 19th of Jan. Wow, that is not how to treat a borrowed racquet. Next gen 100 is better, next gen 98, probably better too, but not as sure.
Thank you Jonas great to hear. I currently have or had the 100. I have a Pure Strike as well so I will use that. 19th is a couple days away! The tennis shop owner told me he was told the new version you will want to string a few lb lower tension which made no sense to me as I hear it is softer? Anyways, cannot wait for your review! PS I hear a lot of folks not liking the new cosmetic. From what I see for what it is worth looks pretty cool.
TW review in with an all-time high score of 9.3/93… I have my name on the short list for demos. Think i’m gonna pull the trigger and maybe even get a matched pair set. can’t wait to try them. Jonas, have you had chance to try any more strings in them?
