Under the captaincy of Yannick Noah, Team Europe put together a commanding performance at The O2 Arena, defeating Team World 13-5 to capture its sixth Laver Cup title.
The crowning moment of the weekend came on Sunday afternoon when world No. 2 and newly crowned US Open champion Alexander Zverev delivered the decisive victory. In a tense, high-stakes match, Zverev fended off a decent challenge from Learner Tien, sealing the title with a hard-fought 7-6(3), 6-3 victory.
“Massive credit to the entire Team World. They pushed us all the way again. They were champions last year. This year, we had a great team chemistry and I’m very happy that we won.” Zverev said after sealing the trophy for Team Europe.
Team Europe entered Sunday’s final day in a strong position, and they quickly extended their advantage when Flavio Cobolli and Jakub Mensik combined for a crucial doubles victory. The European duo defeated Taylor Fritz and Alex de Minaur 7-5, 6-3, moving Team Europe to 10 points and putting them one win away from the title.
With the pressure mounting, Zverev find the form and delivered his first Laver Cup singles victory since 2024 (!) The first set proved to be a nail-biter as Tien went toe-to-toe with the German, pushing the set to a tiebreak. However, Zverev once again relied a lot on his big serve and he took the opener before breaking away in the second set to close out the match in straight sets.
The victory marks a sweet redemption for Team Europe, who were eager to bounce back after surrendering the trophy to Andre Agassi’s Team World in San Francisco last year. With this latest triumph in London, Team Europe extends its overall lead in the tournament’s head-to-head series to 6-3.
It also marks Europe’s third title in the four Laver Cup editions held on European soil, following victories in Prague in 2017 and Berlin in 2024, with Team World winning in London in 2022.
