If there is one brand that has is popular with a mix of competitive juniors, college players, and weekend warriors for the past decade, it is Solinco. While brands like Luxilon built their reputation on raw tour pedigree, and Babolat on pure snapback, Solinco entered the marketplace by solving two major headaches for poly players: extreme ball bite and reliable tension maintenance.
I’ve strung hundreds of sets on every racquet out there and tested virtually their whole catalog at different tensions on my own racquets, so I put together a comprehensive playability breakdown of my Top 5 Solinco strings and the other notable options in their line up that deserve a mention.

1. Solinco Hyper-G (The Benchmark)
Tech & Specs:
- Shape: 4-sided (Square profile)
- Color: Electric Fluro Green
- Stiffness: Medium-Firm (~200–205 lb/in)
Solinco Hyper-G is the go-to for modern square co-polys. On court, it gives a unique medium-firm feel that allows you to attack with full swings with a ton of confidence. The sharp square edges aggressively bite into the felt, creating a high, dipping launch angle that makes aggressive baseline rallies so much fun as you can really rely on the precision.
Playability: Nice spin and predictable release. It gives you enough feedback to feel connected without rattling your arm if you string it in the mid to high 40s or low 50s.
Tension Maintenance: Very good, playability holds up well past the 8-10 hour mark before notching starts to impact launch angle heavily.
2. Solinco Confidential (The Precision & Control Master)
Tech & Specs:
- Shape: 4-sided (Square profile with rounded edges)
- Color: Dark Gunmetal Grey
- Stiffness: Medium-Firm (~205 lb/in)
This is probably the string I end up ordering most as clients are loyal to it and I often combine it with a round string like HighString Zeus 2.0 in a hybrid setup. Confidential hits that sweet spot of the stiffness of Tour Bite and the liveliness of Hyper-G. In testing Confidential, the pocketing of the ball and the directional accuracy on flatter drives were particularly impressive.
Playability: Lower launch angle than Hyper-G delivering laser-like control on serve and inside-out groundstrokes. Great dampening properties and solid feel on off-center hits.
Tension Maintenance: The string bed remains playable and tight longer than any poly in its class.
3. Solinco Tour Bite (The Aggressive Spin King)
Tech & Specs:
- Shape: 4-sided (Extremely sharp profile)
- Color: Metallic Silver
- Stiffness: Firm / Stiff (~215–220 lb/in)
Solinco is famous for the string Tour Bite. It’s crisp, ultra-firm and unabashedly low-powered. If you have generate good racquet head speed and you want to attack the ball with 100% effort without fearing the ball going long, Tour Bite grips the ball like no other string. It is possibly Solinco’s most balanced string. It does well across most categories although I prefer the stability of Confidential (possibly more on defensive backhands).
Playability: Very direct, hard feedback. It can produce really good kick serves and heavy topspin but requires clean contact and sound mechanics.
Tension Maintenance: Good initial holding, but the tension drops a bit after 8-10 hours, and can feel a little rigid/lifeless at that point. I think Hyper-G and Confidential hold out longer here.
4. Solinco Mach-10 (The Modern Dynamic Poly)
- Shape: Shaped profile
- Color: Bright Blue
- Stiffness: Medium (~190–195 lb/in)
Mach-10 is Solinco’s modern pivot toward responsive feel and controlled pop. It was far more lively in testing than the Tour Bite or the Confidential. It has an elastic snap off the stringbed so you can get more depth on defense, but still get sharp bite on angles. Definitely feels softer on the arm vs the 3 above and is a really fun string to play with. I wouldn’t say it is a standout in any category but well balanced and tension holding is above average I would say. Crisp, is the word that comes to mind when I think of this string.
Playability: Softer feel on contact, easier pocketing and greater access to power. If you want Solinco spin but don’t want the fatigue of an ultra-stiff string bed, this is a great choice.
Tension Maintenance: Very solid for a livelier co-poly, good snapback throughout the whole play cycle.
5. Solinco Hyper-G Soft / Confidential Soft (The Arm-Friendly Spin Options)
Tech & Specs:
- Shape: 4-sided profile
- Color: Fluro Green (Hyper-G Soft) / Electric Pink (Confidential Soft)
- Stiffness: Soft-Medium (~175–185 lb/in)
If you are a player that likes the bite of Solinco’s flagship shapes but suffers from stiff joints, or play with stiff modern frames , the “Soft” versions are worth a look at. They do reduce the initial impact shock but retain close to the full spin potential of their ‘parent’ strings. They are certainly not ‘soft’ strings and if you have sensitive elbows I would possibly lower the tension to mid 40s. That said, they give you a slightly more powerful setup vs the regular version and add more all round playability and ball pocketing.
Playability: Longer dwell time, comfortable pocketing and softer response at net on touch volleys.
Tension Maintenance: Slightly faster initial tension drop compared to standard Hyper-G/Confidential, but settles into a smooth, comfortable groove.

Other Notable Strings in the Lineup
The above would be my top 5 but the below deserve a mention too:
Solinco Hyper-G Round: A smooth, round version of Hyper-G. It provides a kind of ‘silky’ snapback and less string-on-string friction, making it one of my favourite cross strings to pair in a shaped-poly hybrid setup.
Solinco Outlast: A round, low-friction co-poly. Good durability, consistent feel and great all round playability on a budget. Offers excellent spin and control.
Solinco Vanquish: Solinco’s top multifilament. It features a plush gut-like polyamide core that works great as a full bed for comfort lovers or as a cross string with a round string such as Hyper-G Round or even Outlast.
Final thoughts
Solinco have earned their place at the top of the co-poly market and for good reason. Their strings provide aggressive players with exactly what they need, a predictable trajectory, extreme spin bite and a string bed that doesn’t go dead after heavy hitting sessions. If you want pure bite and heavy topspin, choose Hyper-G or Tour Bite. Confidential is the standout for control and unmatched tension retention. For more power and a softer ride on your arm, consider Mach-10 or the Soft variants.
