Rodrigo Pacheco Mendez

Rodrigo Pacheco Mendez is the name of a young, left-handed Mexican player that just got his first ATP win at the Acapulco ATP500. But what is Pacheco Mendez’s racquet?

Racquet and Gear

Rodrigo Pacheco Mendez’s racquet is a Tecnifibre Tfight 305S, but like with most pros, this is likely an older version as he was using this racquet model in his junior years. We don’t what strings, tension or racquet specifications Mendez uses, so if you have this information and would like to share, please comment below.

It is exciting for Mexico to get a strong player on tour and it should grow the tennis interest in the country if Pacheco Mendez can keep rising in the rankings.

Bio and Career

Rodrigo Pacheco Mรฉndez was born on April 25th, 2005, in Mรฉrida, Mexico. At just 19 years old, he has already made a name for himself among tennis fans. He turned professional in 2022 and right away showed why he might be a big name on tour in the future, especially in the junior circuit. He achieved the year-end no ITF junior world ranking in 2023. That same year, he won the boys doubles title at Roland Garros, which was a historic moment for Mexican tennis.

His career highlights include reaching the quarterfinals of the Junior Australian Open and Junior French Open in 2022. Pacheco made his ATP Tour debut at the 2022 Los Cabos Open, earning a wildcard into the main draw. Since then, he has continued to gain experience at high-level tournaments, receiving wildcards for events like the ATP 500 Acapulco (Abierto Mexicano Telcel) in 2023 and 2025, as well as the Los Cabos Open in 2024.

On the professional circuit, Pacheco has steadily climbed the ATP rankings. He reached a career-high singles ranking of no 356 on February 17, 2025, and a doubles ranking of no 497 in January 2025, making him the current No. 1 Mexican player. In 2024, he won his biggest title to date at the M25 Xalapa event in Mexico.

His first ATP Tour singles victory came in February 2025 at the Abierto Mexicano Telcel (ATP Acapulco), where he beat Aleksandar Vukic in a thrilling three-set match, becoming the youngest Mexican to win an ATP match since 1996!

Being a left handed player, of course the big inspiration is Nadal:

“Since I was a kid, I really liked to watch Rafa Nadal because Iโ€™m lefty like him. His tennis style is unbelievable.” said Rodrigo.

His playing style is already very solid and consistent, and he doesn’t mind long rallies.
