The Yonex Ezone racquets are all about power. This Yonex Ezone 100 review got me asking the question whether the racquet has too much power. Let’s go through all the tech, specifications and my opinions for the Ezone 100.

Tech

The new Yonex Ezone 100 comes with a slightly different mold. In short, it is wider and thicker at the top of the racquet for more stability and power. Did the Ezone 100 need more power? It depends, but it is more stable and solid in stock form, which is a win.
They have also updated the layup, with something called Minolon. This might sound a bit sci-fi, but Minolon means the material created by Minomushi bagworms. I would think of it as silk, for that silky smooth experience hitting experience.
This is perhaps not as evident as the extra power and stability, but you do feel like the racquet is a little less jarring on off-center hits and overall pockets the ball a little longer. I think it is difficult to argue that this racquet is not an improvement over the last one in terms of forgiveness, power and feel.
However, it is not a “feel racquet” like the Percept or Prestige (of course), but for a power frame, the sensation is pretty pleasant. And the racquet does not have hot spots in the stringbed or situations where you feel like your input and the racquet output does not match each other. But more about that when we get to the playability of the frame.

Specifications for the Ezone 100
There is nothing surprising in terms specifications. The beam profile is thick, as expected. The swing weight is low for a fast swing (given that it is such a thick beam profile). And the stiffness is high, given the racquet has lots of power and easy depth.

Playability and performance

The Ezone 100 is for players looking to take charge with aggressive striking from the baseline. This racquet is even more powerful than the Pure Drive 2025, but still offers good pocketing of the ball. However, you need to be able to control all that power by applying more top spin or perhaps using shorter swings. Many players are looking at switching to a more powerful racquet these days, but going from a Blade 98 to this Ezone 100, might take some adjustment and you need to dedicated some time to it. Don’t give up if you lose your first match, if you commit to the switch, you will usually get there in the end, but it can be a bumpy road.
One benefit, in terms of control, of the Ezone series is that they maintain a lower launch angle overall, which means that flat-hitting ball strikers can hit hard with more confidence. The strongest competitor to the Ezone 100 is the new Babolat Pure Drive 100. We made a comparison post dealing with the Pure Drive vs Ezone. The Pure Drive used to be the firmer of the two, but this generation of the Pure Drive is softer and more spinny, while the Ezone got stiffer and provides missile like trajectory and power.

I am still not sure whether I prefer this edition of the Yonex Ezone 100 compared to the predecessor. I feel like the new edition offers a more pleasant feel on impact with the better pocketing, so after careful deliberation I am going to go with the 2025 edition. Cleaner feel, improved comfort, more power, it is easy to get nostalgic about previous generations that you played well with, but here you have to give it to Yonex that they really improved the overrall playability of the racquet. However, you need to dial in a good and controlled string setup.
I thought Solinco Tour Bite, Tru Pro Pure Rush, or Toroline Caviar worked well in this frame. Yonex Polytour Pro can be paired with a stiffer Strike or Force in the crosses and you have a Ben Shelton style setup.
Pros and cons
There are always pros and cons with every racquet. We tend to look for the perfect frame that does everything well, but it simply does not exist. Every racquet switch includes making compromises about things you get more and things you will have to sacrifice. Making the decision involves a lot of emotion, but also a careful assessing of one’s game. In my opinion, these are some plus and minus points for the new Ezone 100.

Summary
The Ezones is a solid upgrade from Yonex. The racquets are more stable and more powerful without becoming harsh or losing identity. Changing the mold and layup without damaging what was good with the predecessor is not easy, but they have managed it here. I usually applaud brands for taking risks and not sticking to trusted molds and Yonex does that really well.

The VCORE 2026 is a more signficant update than the Ezone and I feel like the Ezone racquets outshine the VCOREs in most aspects as Yonex’s most playable and easily-enjoyable line of racquets.
We are seeing more and more Yonex racquets everywhere and there is a reason for that. They innovate thoughtfully and come out with new molds and not just minor layup tweaks. I think this is worth applause. And definitely a Tennisnerd Approved stamp.
I’m keen to hear in the comments if you have tried this Ezone 100 racquet and what you have learned. Maybe you have some string setups or modifications that you can recommend towards other play-testers?

Would you say this is a good doubles racquet? Older player, like a fast/full swing, but don’t like to rally form baseline. Serve, ugly volley, get to net and hit volleys or overheads. Still like to have a weaopn at baseline to pass down the line or push server back on returns though. New follower…thanks!
Yes, this would be excellent for doubles. This one or the new Pure Drive are two nice choices.
Hi I have a slight tfcc tear which sometimes makes it harder for me to achieve a lot of spin. I’m not a fast swinger either. Do you think this ezone vs clash 3 or new Pure drive might be better? Thanks in advance
Sounds like the Clash is the way to go
What is better to control ezone 100 or ultra 100v4 ?
I would say the Ultra as the new Ezone has more power
Which racket has the highest launch angle, Wilson Ultra or Ezone?
Looking to upgrade my Babalot Aeropro drive. I’m a 69 year old 3.0-3.5 doubles player.
Considering:
Babalot Pure Aero Drive 100
Babalot Pure Aero Light
Yonex Ezone 100 or maybe VCore 100
Thoughts??

Which would you choose in terms of power, spin, ease of use, serve, and for doubles and singles matches? Ezone 100 2025 or Pure drive 100 2025
Both very good, I prefer Pure Drive a bit as I can control it a bit better.
I’m at my sixties, enjoy rallies from the baseline and volleys at net, currently using a Clash 100 v2 and looking for an upgrade, will the Clash 100 v3 or the ezone 100 (2025) be a better choice please?
Hi Jonas,
I bought two Ezone 100 2024 racquets last year, played few times and got injured, I’m coming back now.
I really enjoyed playing 2024 version and i wonder is it worth changing practically new racquets to the 2025 version?
I’m a 4.0 baseline hitter, one handed backhand.
I’m trying to reply to Krystian. What did you hurt playing with the ezone 2022? I am using the 2025 ezone 100 and was doing great but I started experimenting with tour bite and now my shoulder is on fire. Strangely the ezone 2025 never felt comfortable to me. It always felt jarring when I first started hitting with it and it quickly went away as I warmed up. But now my right wrist and shoulder are hurting. The drop in temps could be what has really brought this out. I am going to switch off the tour bite and see what happens. Will try some softer polys like mach10 and grapplesnake m8. Probably even tour bite soft.
