Matteo Gigante’s Racquet – Player Profile

Matteo Gigante

Matteo Gigante is yet another Italian talent on the ATP tour with a crafty left-handed game. But what is Gigante’s current racquet and strings setup?

Matteo Gigante’s tennis racquet

Matteo Gigante’s racquet is a bit of a mystery, even to racquet nerds. It looks like a larger Prestige with a 16/19 pattern, which makes me think it is the HEAD Prestige MP L mold. It could be the one with the PT57A layup, which Murray and other ATP players tried for a while.

The HEAD Prestige MP L is an interesting frame, which delivers a plush and arm-friendly feel, while producing good spin thanks to the open 16/19 pattern. The stability is a little lacking on off-center shots in stock form, but you can customize to play with more stability.

I don’t know Gigante’s racquet specs, so if you do, please let us know in the comments.

Gigante’s strings

Gigante strings his racquet with HEAD Lynx Tour, their beloved and control and spin string which gives players a solid feel and grabs the ball. The softer racquet and the firmer string complements each other well to create a balanced racquet setup.

Gigante’s apparel

Matteo Gigante is currently sponsored by Australian apparel, which is also used by players like Roman Safiullin. He uses Nike Vapor Pro, which looks like the Gen 1. If you have any more info, feel free to share. We appreciate your input.

Bio and Career

Matteo Gigante was born on January 4th, 2002, in Rome, Italy.

Turning pro in 2019, Gigante reached a junior peak of no 51, highlighted by second-round appearances at the 2020 Australian Open boys singles and doubles.

His professional breakthrough came in 2022, winning his first ITF title in Sharm El Sheikh and reaching two ATP Challenger semifinals, climbing into the top 250 of the ATP rankings. In 2023, he won his first Challenger title in Tenerife as a lucky loser, becoming the 16th player to achieve this, and added titles in Cordenons, Monterrey, Rome and Ortisei.

2024 saw Gigante with his first ATP win at the Grand Prix Hassan II, but later retiring against Roberto Carballés Baena. He won his first ATP and Masters 1000 match at the Rome Masters as a wildcard, defeating Giulio Zeppieri. His biggest career win came at the 2025 Indian Wells Masters, defeating Sebastian Baez 6-3, 6-2 for his first hardcourt Masters win.

At the 2025 Australian Open we saw Gigante make his Grand Slam debut, where he qualified but lost to Ugo Humbert in the first round.

Currently, Matteo Gigante is ranked 167 with a career high rank of no 132. We expect him to climb the ranks after having seen some great form at the 2025 Roland Garros.
