New Tennis Shoes: Nike Vapor Pro 3

The new editions of the Nike Vapor Pro hard court tennis shoes are out in stores, let’s look a bit closer at all the features and pros/cons for the Nike Vapor Pro 3.

The Vapor Pro’s has always provided speed and flexibility. With the new third edition, Nike wants to improve the supportive and flexible features and make the shoe generally more comfortable.

Changes and upgrades

Nike has really made an effort in listening to both pro and casual players feedback from the Vapor Pro 2 when designing the new version.

First of all we’re seeing a bit more cushion both in the tongue and the heel collar and it just makes it a bit more comfortable at first try.

Looking at the midsole, one major difference from the Pro 2 is the Zoom Air unit which now has a different shape and is being placed right under the foot in the forefoot. The aim here is to make it a bit more flexible in the upper and it’s placed in the highest impact zone. The Zoom Air is much smaller and thinner though so it would be great to hear your comments on how this works out on the court.

The upper material has changed just slightly, still breathable and supportive but the aim is again to be more flexible with your feet. The adaptive fit lacing system is also slightly improved and the whole upper feels lighter and lock down great on your foot.

Great durability

Looking under the Vapor Pro 3, Nike has kept the same traction pattern as before, but updated the rubber outsole material. The durability for dragging or sliding is really good, with the outsole coming up a lot over the forefoot as well.

These are very stable shoes still, but with good flexibility when pushing off quick, and great for sliders on hard-courts.
