Jasmine Paolini’s Racquet – Player Profile

Italian tennis in general is currently at its very best, not only because of World No. 1 Jannik Sinner. There are six male players in the top 40 and of course, this will give the main attention to them, but Jasmine Paolini is one big reason for Italyโ€™s rise as well. The 29-year-old is sitting at a career high No. 4 after multiple Slam finals last year, but what gear is she actually using?

Paoliniโ€™s tennis racquet

Jasmine Paolini is sponsored by Yonex and endorses the Vcore 100 racquet, a frame very popular within the womenโ€™s field. However, players are sometimes using older generations of this frame underneath the newest paintjob, and it seems like this is the case here as well. There are statements by her coach that suggest she is using the 2021 tango red Vcore, but she had used the SV100 before as well, a frame that pros like Rybakina still use today. Yonex is generally not very vocal or open about their pro stock frames, so there are no codes to go by here.

She strings the frame up with Poly Tour Pro, a string very easy to see with its specific yellow color and large audience amongst Yonex players. According to stringers, Paolini uses 1.15 or 1.20 gauge at around 25-26 kgs. This is a relatively high tension and thin gauge for pro players but will help her get extra power and spin from this already powerful frame. For apparel, Jasmine Paolini is endorsing Asics shoes and clothing, making her the highest ranked tennis player fully sponsored by the brand.

Bio and career

Jasmine Paolini was born and raised in Tuscany, Italy, where she started playing tennis at the age of 5. Her mother is of Polish and Ghanaian descent and her father it Italian. She had a rather mediocre junior career with only one ITF title and a third round of Australian Open in 2014 as her highest Slam result. Between 2015 and 2017 she mainly played on the ITF tour, making wild card appearances at tournaments and winning her first title at a 100k event in Marseille.

Her breakout started in 2018, when she recorded her first WTA level match wins and quarterfinal, before reaching her first final in Tokyo 2019. After this, she reached the top 100 for the first time, which had not been done by any Italian since Camila Giorgi in 2012. Paolini continued to improve throughout the years with milestone of her first major match win in 2020, the first WTA title in 2021and becoming the Italian No. 1 in 2023. Of course, her real breakout performance was 2024, where she reached two major finals at the French Open and Wimbledon and won an Olympic gold medal in doubles. She subsequently made her debut at the WTA finals and finished the year in world No. 4, a career high ranking.
