Hugo Dellien’s racquet is a Babolat Pure Aero VS, but an older mold (2016 is my guess), similar to the racquet Felix Auger-Aliassime uses. Today the 2019/20 Aero VS used by Alcaraz, Rune and Fils, is the more popular choice. Based on pictures, Dellien was using a hybrid until a year or two ago, when he seems to have switched to a full bed of Babolat RPM Blast.

Bio and Career

Hugo Dellien was born on June 16th, 1993, in Trinidad, Bolivia and started playing tennis at age 5. His brothers also play tennis and his wife, Camila Giangreco, is actually a former WTA player.

Turning pro in 2009, Dellien reached a junior peak of no 2 in 2011, highlighted by a French Open boys singles semifinal.

Dellien made his ATP debut in 2019 at the Cordoba Open but his big breakthrough came later that year at the Rio Open, where, as a qualifier, he earned his first ATP wins over Guido Andreozzi and Roberto Carballés Baena. By reaching the quarterfinals he became the first Bolivian to do so since Mario Martínez in 1984.

In 2022, he defeated Dominic Thiem at Roland Garros and later reached a career-high No. 64 following the Wimbledon tournament.

In 2023, he made history at the Córdoba Open, defeating Juan Manuel Cerúndolo to become the first Bolivian ATP semifinalist since Martínez in 1983.

Following some tough years and slight drop in the rankings, Dellien impressed at the 2025 Italian Open, by reaching the third round as a lucky loser, defeating Thiago Seyboth Wild 6-3, 6-3. This got him back into the top 100.

Currently Hugo Dellien is ranked 82 and has around $2.6M earned in prize money.
