The new Solinco Blackout V2 has officially been released at various retailers, marking the next evolution of a racquet that has quickly become a favorite among a wide range of players. Building on the success of its predecessor, the Blackout V2 aims to deliver a more solid, stable and comfortable feel without sacrificing the signature blend of power and spin that made the original so popular.
Solinco’s Director of Sports, KT Kim, emphasizes that the goal for the Blackout V2 was not to create something entirely new, but to apply proven engineering principles to elevate the existing frame. The V1 was known for its easy access to power and spin, and the V2 keeps that core DNA intact. However, Solinco has incorporated two key technologies to address player feedback and enhance the overall experience.
The Blackout V2 is already available at Tennis Warehouse for purchase around $239.
Check later on here on Tennisnerd, among our racquet reviews, for a complete review of this new frame.

Key Upgrades
- Foam Tech Core: An optimally formulated PU density foam is now integrated into the head of the frame. This technology is designed to significantly reduce vibration and enhance the feel of the racquet upon impact. Players who found the V1 to be a bit too lively will appreciate the added dampening and improved connection to the ball.
- Arch-2 Construction: This is Solinco’s new carbon-fiber layering process. By making subtle adjustments to the frame’s carbon layup, Solinco has enhanced the racquet’s stiffness and flex properties. The result is a more stable and forgiving frame, particularly on off-center hits, which also contributes to the improved comfort and controlled power.
The Blackout V2 comes in the same models as its predecessor:
- Blackout 300: The standard 300g (unstrung) model.
- Blackout 285: A lighter, more maneuverable option for intermediate players.
- Blackout 300 XTD: An extended 27.5-inch version for players seeking extra reach and leverage.
All models retain the popular 100 sq. in. head size and 16×19 string pattern. A notable feature carried over is the Weight Control Module, which allows players to easily customize the racquet’s weight and balance with interchangeable 5-gram and 10-gram butt-cap plates. This is a huge benefit for players who like to fine-tune their equipment.
In terms of looks, the Blackout V2 has an updated aesthetic, sharing a unique “tiger camo” paint job with the recently released Whiteout V2. Solinco’s engineering team created a new process to hand-apply each design, giving the racquet a bold and distinctive appearance which looks great in our opinion.
Verdict?
Early impressions and play-tester feedback suggest that Solinco has successfully delivered on its mission to create a more solid, stable and comfortable version of the Blackout.
