In the first round of the ATP Doha event we find an interesting clash, it’s the second meeting between Tsitsipas and Serbian youngster, Hamad Medjedovic.
Stefanos Tsitsipas is having a quite poor 2025 season so far and is currently with a 3-3 win-loss record. He’s yet to face any top ranked opposition and in the Australian Open he was eliminated in the first round v Alex Michelsen. The Greek is really struggling with consistency, will he be back in form for the clay season again?
Serbian Medjedovic is an interesting young player, that is just coming off a great run in Marseille where he eventually lost in the final to Ugo Humbert. That run made him a special exemption entry into Doha as he couldn’t play the qualifiers. The 21-year-old just achieved his career-high ATP singles ranking of world no 73 and is aiming for a strong season.
H2H
This is just the second meeting between these two. The only previous clash came at Gstaad (clay) last year when Tsitsipas came out with a win 7-6, 6-3.
Predictions and Odds
In the odds, Tsitsipas is the clear favorite at 1.46 (or -225) while a win for Medjedovic gives around 2.65 (+162.5).
The Serb has to try continue his recent form and manage the transition to outdoors following a great indoor period. Will he be able to control the game with his aggressive baseline shots against an experienced player as Tsitsipas. An upset here today would not be that surprising against the inconsistent 11th ranked Greek.
Prediction: Medjedovic to cover the hcp at +3.5 games – Odds 1.69 (-150)
