We’re down to four players in Paris and we’ll have two competitive semi-finals on the slow hard-courts at the huge Accor Arena. Let’s look a bit closer at the two Paris Masters semifinals with our predictions.
Félix Auger-Aliassime vs. Alexander Bublik
(Head-to-Head: Auger-Aliassime leads 3-2)
Here we have two of the tour’s most in-form indoor hard-court players, with the added intensity of a potential ATP Finals qualification for Auger-Aliassime.
The Canadian has been in fanastic form since the US Open, and a win here would secure his place in the season-ending championships in Turin, displacing Lorenzo Musetti. Felix has looked really sharp this week, culminating in a dominant straight-sets quarter-final win over Valentin Vacherot.
Bublik is making his first-ever Masters 1000 semi-final appearance and has navigated a challenging draw, including back-to-back wins over top-10 players Taylor Fritz and Alex de Minaur. Bublik has been serving brilliantly, losing his serve only once this week prior to his hard-fought three-set win over De Minaur. His unpredictable game makes him a dangerous opponent capable of upsetting anyone and he has added a nice mix of consistency.
Predictions
The head-to-head is tight, with FAA holding a marginal 3-2 edge, including a three-set win earlier this year in Dubai.
The slow surface seem to suit both of them fine and the match is likely to be decided by fine margins, particularly in tie-breaks and on second-serve points. Looking at the odds among betting sites, the Canadian is a slight favorite and we tend to agree.
Jannik Sinner vs. Alexander Zverev
(Head-to-Head: Tied 4-4)
The second semi-final is a highly anticipated rematch of last week’s Vienna final, a rivalry that has been increasingly defined by intensity even though Sinner has an edge in recent meetings.
The world No. 2 has been nearly flawless in Paris, reaching the semi-finals without dropping a set, extending his incredible indoor hard-court winning streak to 24 matches. He hasn’t even looked 100 % physically fine at times but ti doesn’t seem to matter… A title in Paris would see him reclaim the World No. 1 ranking from Carlos Alcaraz and it’s looking likely at the moment.
Zverev is the defending champion and he looked strong vs Daniil Medvedev, in a grueling three-set battle. That victory ended a five-match losing streak against the Russian and surely boosted Zverev’s confidence. Having played a physically and mentally tough quarter-final, Zverev will need to recover quickly and employ an extremely effective serving and attacking game to counter Sinner.
Predictions
The overall head-to-head is tied at 4-4, but Sinner has won their last three encounters, including the recent final in Vienna.
For Zverev to win, he must serve exceptionally well and keep points short, denying Sinner the rhythm he craves in baseline rallies. However, Sinner’s current dominance, coupled with the fatigue factor for Zverev, makes the Italian the strong favorite, once again…
- Prediction: Jannik Sinner to win in straight sets.
