Players are still dusting the red clay from their shoes, but already the 2025 Wimbledon Championships are just around the corner. The upcoming Grand Slam promises plenty, including the prospect of another chapter in the Carlos Alcaraz–Jannik Sinner rivalry. But who are the other favorites for the title, and which players are likely to surprise in London? Read on as we break it all down.
Favorites to win Wimbledon 2025
This year’s Wimbledon appears to be a two-man race, but there are others who could sneak in, and we’ll go over all of them. Make sure you’re updated on all upcoming, in-form players and new tennis betting markets, like at Betwright or similar sites, before placing any bets.
- Carlos Alcaraz
Alcaraz sits as favorite heading into Wimbledon, simply because he’s a two-time champion of the event. The Spaniard has now won the event two years in a row by beating none other than Novak Djokovic back-to-back, arguably the best grass player for over a decade.
What’s particularly impressive is the way Alcaraz bested him last year because that final wasn’t even close. He cruised easily, and with that in mind—considering that he just bested Sinner back-to-back in finals—he’s clearly the number one favorite to take out the title again.
- Jannik Sinner
Sinner is a solid grass player. The Italian has bested Alcaraz on the surface before, and while he’s never made the final, he’s come pretty close to it. He might have made it last year if he hadn’t gotten injured.
Having served a three-month ban this year, Sinner’s return to tennis has been awesome. He’s proven that nobody outside of Alcaraz can really challenge him, and his much-improved serving is another strength he can rely on for a deep run at Wimbledon. Read more about Sinner’s current racquet.
- Novak Djokovic
Even though he hasn’t really looked like himself for much of this year, Djokovic showed at Roland Garros that he’s still got plenty of fight left in him. The reason he’s a favorite heading into Wimbledon is that the Serbian is simply much better than most on grass.
He has won the event multiple times, and it took the massive emergence of a historically talented player to stop him. With that in mind, we still like him as the first ‘underdog’ who could win the event besides the two top dogs.
- Jack Draper
Another other player who is in contention is Jack Draper, because the Brit is playing his best tennis right now. He’s cracked the top five for the first time in his career, and has possibly been the third-best player on Tour all year long.
Draper knows grass, plays well on grass, has a good serve, and it’s his home event. These are all the ingredients for him to make a really strong push. It will just take a bit of luck to get there, given he’s still a cut below the tournament favorites.
Possible surprises at the 2025 Wimbledon Championships
While we singled out the major names that could make an impact at the event above, there are other players that could technically go on a run. Here are our top contenders to surprise.
- Lorenzo Musetti
One contender to go deep at Wimbledon is Lorenzo Musetti, who made the semi-final this year. While not a natural fit on grass, Musetti has proven to have the game to win on the surface, and he’s become even better since last year. He just made a big run at the French Open – and was outrageously consistent all clay season – so should be feeling really good about himself.
- Taylor Fritz
Another who has shown high potential on grass due to his massive serve is Taylor Fritz. He nearly made the semi-final last year and will be eager to prove himself this year. Following the Stuttgart win just recently, Fritz will be a player to look out for even at Wimbledon.
- Jakub Mensik
Jakub Mensik is another player with a massive serve, but it’s not just the serve that makes the Czech teen a potential surprise package. He has the game to back it up, and he could do some damage on grass. He showed in Miami how far his game can take him if he plays his best, and his best would be good enough for a deep run here.
- Alex de Minaur
De Minaur has generally played pretty well on grass and could do so again. While his clay season finished a bit underwhelming, the Australian will be quite motivated to turn it around on grass, and he has the game to do it. The ATP Tour has been defined by inconsistency outside of the elite few, but de Minaur has been a rare shining light.

Early 2025 Wimbledon betting tips
With Wimbledon coming up, let’s go over some early predictions. These are very early, with the grass season barely underway, but it’s good to jump in early and grab some value before the odds get adjusted.
- Lorenzo Musetti to make the quarter-finals
This is a pretty certain tip for us because there aren’t that many players as good as Musetti right now, and more importantly, as good on grass as he has shown he can be. There can always be some draw shenanigans that make this less likely, but overall, we’re confident that the Italian will continue his sturdy performances and secure a spot in the quarter-finals of Wimbledon this year.
- Carlos Alcaraz to make the final
Another near-certainty for us is Alcaraz making the final. The Spaniard is simply the man right now, and there isn’t anybody that can stop him – except for Djokovic, but more on that below. His game works well on grass, he enjoys playing on the surface, and he’s got tons of experience on it. The fact that this is a Grand Slam makes it all the more likely that he’ll take it seriously because he is ultimately his own worst enemy. When he’s on, he’s truly unbeatable.
- Novak Djokovic to not make the final
As good as Djokovic looked in Paris, we’re still not sold on the ‘he’s back’ narrative. To make the final in London, he’ll need to beat either Sinner or Alcaraz due to those two sitting on either half of the draw. With all due respect, we don’t see him beating either on grass, and that’s the main reason why we’re picking him to bow out before the final.
