Tommy Paul to win the tournament
Tommy Paul is the first seed in the 2025 Adelaide ATP. Looking at the draw, we believe that he will be the best player on the court next week. Sebastian Korda is the second seed but has not played any competitive matches since the US Open last year. Tomas Machac is the third seed, and he just recently retired against Taylor Fritz in the United Cup.ย
The American has not played any competitive matches this season. We believe that he will give his best to go far this week to prepare accordingly for the Australian Open. Last year in Adelaide, Tommy reached the quarterfinals, losing against Jack Draper in straight sets. Shortly after that, Tommy reached the third round in the Australian Open, losing in a tight match against Kecmanovic in five sets. However, shortly after that, Paul went on to win the tournament in Dallas, and just a week after, Paul finished as a runner-up in Delray Beach.
Tommy primarily plays from the baseline and enjoys playing on the fast courts, such as this one in Adelaide. We expect him to play aggressively and to win the tournament next week. He is a more experienced player than last year, and he surely knows he needs to get to his best level before the Australian Open. Looking at the other rivals, we believe Paul is the best choice to win this week’s tournament.
That said, Paul winning the tournament is a value bet.

Thanasi Kokkinakis to at least reach the semifinals
Kokkinakis has been granted a wild card this week in Adelaide. Being an Australian, Thanasi will have the crowd on his side. His last competitive matches were at the Davis Cup, where he showed great tennis, winning against Shelton and almost upsetting Matteo Berrettini.
Here in Adelaide, Thanasi has a favorable draw. In the opening round, Kokkinakis will face Zhizhen Zhang, who is currently out of form. We expect him to get the job done quickly and move to the second round, where he will probably face Etcheverry. Tomas Martin Etcheverry is a clay court specialist who has never had any remarkable results on fast, hard courts such as this one. His toughest challenge will be in the quarterfinals, where he will probably face Sebastian Korda, a second seed this week. As we previously mentioned, Sebastian Korda has not played any competitive matches since the US Open, so we believe Kokkinakis will have a decent chance on home soil against an American.
At the end of the 2024 season, Thanasi played in Sydney at the Challenger tournament, where he won the title without dropping a single set. Looking at his current form, it is fair to say that Thanasi will have a solid week in Adelaide.
That said, Kokkinakis reaching the semifinals is a value bet.
