The 2025 Australian Open is only a few weeks away and that means that preparations are in full swing. All those that want to do well at the event have already begun their work so letโ€™s take a look at what some of the sportโ€™s biggest stars have been up to.

Carlos Alcaraz

Carlos Alcaraz started his preparation a few days ago in his base in Murcia, though the world No 3 was pretty busy in the weeks before.ย

He first took a vacation in the Caribbean, after which he made his way to the US to play some exhibition matches. He played one against Ben Shelton and then against Frances Tiafoe before heading back to Spain to prepare for the next season.

The Spaniard wonโ€™t be playing in the Middle East in any sort of exhibition and will simply head straight to Australia once his camp is finished. Alcaraz hasnโ€™t entered any of the pre-Open events, so his first tournament in 2025 will be the Australian Open.

Jannik Sinner

Jannik Sinner hasnโ€™t really given much away about his off-season, because the Italian was pretty busy until the end of the year. He played at the ATP Finals and the Davis Cup winning both competitions, which meant that he needed quite a bit of time off.

He spent some of that time in the Middle East attending a Formula One race, but heโ€™s since started working on his preparation for the new season. The current stage of that is also taking place in the Middle East as heโ€™s been in Dubai for the past five days.

Just like Alcaraz he wonโ€™t play anything before the Australian Open, an interesting choice for the Australian Open champion – though, it worked for him last time.

Novak Djokovic

Novak Djokovic also hasnโ€™t really shown much of his off-season tennis practices, but he has certainly been active.

Much like Sinner, he was in the Middle East attending the Formula One race there but that wasnโ€™t the only thing he did. He actually went to Argentina to play with Juan Martin Del Potro in what ended up being Argentinaโ€™s farewell match.

Outside of that itโ€™s not really known what Djokovic did in the off-season, but heโ€™s clearly preparing for the new season with new coach Andy Murray. We donโ€™t know where he is but we do know where he will play and he will play a prep event before the Australian Open. Heโ€™s the top seed for the Brisbane event which begins in the first week of the season.ย

This is pretty standard practice for Djokovic, who has always played warm up events for the Australian Open. It helped him win the event in four straight editions between 2019 and 2023.

Alexander Zverev

Unlike his colleagues who havenโ€™t shared much of their workouts, Alexander Zverev has been quite open about the off-season work he has been putting in. The German took his family to the Maldives where he worked out every day in preparation for the new season. After a really great season, Zverev is seemingly very motivated to take the next step and heโ€™s working hard on that goal.

The Maldives arenโ€™t that uncommon for him as he goes there frequently and even practices there ahead of Australia. Heโ€™s hardly the only one but outside of that, we donโ€™t know much about his plans.

He wonโ€™t be playing in the Middle East unlike some of his colleagues but will play at the ATP Cup which will be his prep before the Australian Open.

Tsitsipas, Rublev, Ruud

Stefanos Tsitsipas, Andrey Rublev and Casper Ruud will all be in the Middle East ahead of the start of the season, because they are all playing at the World Tennis League.

None of that is a surprise because most of them have played in the competition before and in the case of Rublev, heโ€™s even won it. Lots of players in general are preparing for the new season in the Middle East because itโ€™s one of the rare places at this time of the year that can offer you outdoor tennis in sunny weather. This is what players will encounter when they touch down in Australia, so it makes for good preparation.

All of these players have semi-active social media so they all have been posting updates to fans about what is going on.

Alex de Minaur

Australiaโ€™s top man Alex de Minaur has also started prepping for the new season.

There is lots to be excited about how he finished the season and he certainly has high ambitions for 2025 and itโ€™s to take his career to the next step. A big massive run at his home slam would fit that description and heโ€™s already started working on it.

The Aussie is over in Monaco currently, working hard on his movement, which is his signature skill and at the center of what he does. Before that he played and won the UTS Grand Final in London, after which he enjoyed some chill days in the UK with his girlfriend Katie Boulter.

De Minaur will play in January. Heโ€™s set to compete at the United Cup for Australia after which itโ€™s the Australian Open.
