Solinco has released the Prizm 115, a new oversize frame designed to bring more forgiveness and ease of play to recreational players and beginners.

Known primarily for their high-performance strings like Hyper-G and Tour Bite, Solinco has been steadily building their racquet lineup with the Blackout and Whiteout series. Now they’re expanding into new territory with the Prizm 115, their first dedicated oversize frame aimed at players who prioritise comfort and forgiveness over control.

UPDATE: The new Prizm 115 is now available at Tennis Warehouse here.

What Makes the Prizm 115 Different

The Prizm 115 represents a departure from Solinco’s typical player-focused racquets. With a 115 square inch head size – significantly larger than the 98-100 sq in frames typically found in the Blackout and Whiteout lines – this racquet targets a different audience entirely.

The massive sweet spot is the main selling point. Off-center hits that would normally result in mishits feel more forgiving, keeping the ball in play when your timing isn’t perfect. Solinco says the goal is to keep players “in the moment,” allowing them to focus on enjoying the game rather than worrying about technical precision on every shot.

Ergo Power Design

The key technology driving the Prizm 115 is what Solinco calls “Ergo Power Design.” This custom-engineered frame geometry aims to deliver easy access to power without requiring aggressive swings or perfect technique. The result is a racquet that helps generate depth and pace with less physical effort.

The extended 27.5-inch length (versus the standard 27 inches) adds extra leverage on groundstrokes and serves, giving players additional reach and power. Combined with the lightweight, easy-to-swing frame, this frame is built for players who want performance without the arm strain that often comes with heavier, more demanding racquets.

Spin-Friendly Features

Despite being an oversize frame, the Prizm 115 doesn’t sacrifice spin potential. The 16×19 string pattern features wider spacing between strings, which Solinco says enhances topspin generation. This makes it easier to hit with shape and margin, particularly useful for players who struggle to generate their own spin with more compact racquets.

The wider string bed also contributes to the forgiving feel, mishits don’t lose as much energy, and the larger sweet spot means more shots land with consistent depth even when contact isn’t the best.

Technologies

Beyond the Ergo Power Design, the Prizm 115 incorporates several of Solinco’s existing technologies:

Liquid Crystal Technology: Liquid Crystal Fibers are integrated into the handle to optimize flex and reduce vibration and shock.

Weight Control Module: Solinco’s interchangeable butt-cap system allows players to customize the racquet’s weight and balance. The frame comes with both 5-gram and 10-gram plates that can be swapped out, letting players fine-tune how the racquet feels without adding lead tape or making permanent modifications.

This is what we know so far.

Part of the Prizm Project

The Prizm 115 is part of Solinco’s broader Prizm Project initiative, which explores how color and material science can influence performance and aesthetics. While the Prizm Project has primarily focused on strings (like the electric pink Confidential Soft) and colored grommets, the Prizm 115 brings that ethos to racquets.

Something New in Solinco’s Lineup

The Prizm 115 fills a gap in Solinco’s lineup. While their Blackout and Whiteout frames cater to aggressive baseliners and advanced players seeking control and spin, the Prizm 115 goes in a completely different direction – prioritising comfort, forgiveness and ease of use.

For players who’ve been intimidated by smaller, heavier frames or those dealing with arm issues, the Prizm 115 offers a legitimate option from a brand known for quality. It’s not trying to be a control-oriented player’s racquet – it’s designed to make tennis more accessible and enjoyable for everyone else.
