Learner Tien (image on top), the young American, is one of the candidates who had a great 2025 season and has climbed from outside the top 100 to the the current World No 28. Joao Fonseca is another player with a similar rise. His season was highlighted by winning his maiden ATP Tour title in Buenos Aires, followed by a second title in Basel late in the season. Fonseca is currently at his career high rank, no 24.
In the top 10 where the competition is very different, we’ve seen Jack Draper and Ben Shelton making headlines during the year. Shelton, who climbed to a career-high ranking of World No. 5 by November, secured his first ATP Masters 1000 title at the Canadian Open. Draper looked in primed form earlier in the season and peaking at a career-high World No. 4 in June but has dropped to no 10 following injury problems.
