Jannik Sinner continues his march in New York where his level of tennis has been just incredible. Next up for the world no 1 is the in-form Felix Auger-Aliassime that has impressed so far, but can he really cause Sinner problems here?

Read our preview below, where Sinner chases his second US Open title and Auger-Aliassime seeks his maiden Grand Slam final.

Check also our preview for the other semi, Alcaraz vs Djokovic.

Sinner favorite… again

Top seed and defending champion Jannik Sinner is widely considered the heavy favorite. This goes for basically any opponent he’s facing, just looking at his current level and form. He has been in dominant form, extending his hard-court winning streak to 26 matches and reaching his fifth consecutive Grand Slam semifinal. In the quarterfinal, he defeated fellow Italian Lorenzo Musetti in a swift straight-sets victory, losing only seven games and saving all seven break points he faced.

Felix Auger-Aliassime, the 25th seed, has had a more challenging path to the semifinals but not many expected him to reach this far. He battled through a four-hour, four-set marathon against Alex de Minaur in his quarterfinal match, which followed impressive wins over higher-seeded players like Alexander Zverev and Andrey Rublev. His run marks his second-ever Grand Slam semifinal, and his first since 2021.

Felix Auger-Aliassime, is this the end of his run?

H2H

The head-to-head record between the two is 2-1 in favor of Auger-Aliassime, though their last encounter was a dominant 6-0, 6-2 victory for Sinner in Cincinnati.

Odds and Predictions for Sinner vs Auger-Aliassime

Sinner’s consistently high level of play and his physical advantage make him the favorite among the tennis bookmakers, and we have to agree.

At odds around 1.05 (-2000) we will not place any bets on the Italian but it just shows how no tour player apart from Alcaraz seem to be able to handle him at the moment.

At the odds of 15 times the money, Auger-Aliassime will feel he has nothing to lose in this semifinal and hopefully we can get a proper challenge from the Canadian. He used to have problems competing with the very top level of players (previously a 1-7 record against top-10 players) but the two wins over Zverev and de Minaur shows he’s taken the next step. He’s also dealing with the big moments well as we’ve seen in plenty of tie-break wins so far in New York.

This is a different challenge though. Expect a competitive but controlled performance, with Sinner advancing in three tight sets to reach his second consecutive US Open final. This would also place him among only a few players who reached all four Grand Slam finals in a calendar year.
