Written by: Bren Gray | September 27, 2024

Padel is not just a new exciting sport anymore, today there are plenty of skilled padel players that are real stars in the sport.

The Premier Padel and World Padel Tour (WPT) ranking systems ensure that only the best players earn their place at the top based on merit and consistency. Below we’ll look at the top five players (men and women) who are currently dominating the padel courts on tour.

Top 10 Padel Players in 2024

We will start with the men’s top five players who are dominating the charts right now. After that, we will move on to the five best female players.

Top 5 Men’s Padel Players

1. Arturo Coello (Spain)

Known as “King Arthur,” Arturo Coello is one of the most gifted professionals in padel and well known among fans.

Standing 1.90 meters tall, Arturo was brought up in Valladolid, Spain, and he showed talent in the sport already form an early age when playing in the lower categories. Now, working alongside Agustín Tapia (see below) has shot both players to the top and created a team that’s very hard to deal with for any type of opponents.

Coello became the youngest player ever to win a World Padel Tour (WPT). His ongoing success in 2023 gave five WPT titles alongside Tapia.

Coello’s path reflects Tapia’s in many respects: both young, determined and capable of turning around any match with their quite explosive play; they are among the most fascinating duos in padel.

2. Agustín Tapia (Argentina)

Agustín Tapia has ascended the padel world quickly, gaining the moniker “The Mozart of Catamarca” for his superb performance, much like his partner Coello has.

At 1.79 meters tall and born in Catamarca, Argentina, Tapia’s strong backhand on the left side of the court works well with Coello’s more aggressive approach.

Tapia’s 90.35% win rate shows his ability to stay focused and almost constantly deliver results under pressure.

His precision and technical ability provide a nice counterbalance to Coello’s power, and they might dominate the padel tour for a while.

3. Alejandro Galán (Spain)

Alejandro Galán, 1.86 meters, brings a different kind of power to the court compared to Coello and Tapia.

Galán, a left-sided aggressive player, is a player to look out for and he has been a regular presence in professional padel from his early years. Consistent performance over his career has earned him a high ranking on the World Padel Tour.

Alejandro Galán

Although Coello and Tapia mostly concentrate on spectacular plays, Galán’s game is distinguished by his tactical acuity and match management. His partnership with Federico Chingotto in 2023-2024 has been very successful.

Galán has a 85.94% win rate and his strategic mindset contrasts with Coello’s more aggressive play.

4. Federico Chingotto (Argentina)

With his quickness, Federico Chingotto, sometimes known as “Super Mouse,” provides a welcome counterpoint to the towering presences of Coello and Galán.

Originally from Buenos Aires, he’s renowned for his amazing court coverage and fast reactions. Though his long-standing alliance with Juan Tello generated many successes, his game has improved further with Alejandro Galán in 2024.

Chingotto’s agility allows him to outmaneuver opponents who rely on power, like Coello, while his quick thinking on the court makes him a valuable partner for Galán. Despite his smaller stature, Chingotto’s speed allow him to compete well with physically larger players.

5. Juan Lebrón (Spain)

Renowned for his forceful, instinctual play, Juan Lebrón, sometimes nicknamed as “The Wolf,” is among padel’s most legendary players.

Lebrón, 1.84 meters tall, has a physical resemblance to Galán’s but on the court he clearly has a more vicious, unrelenting force. Actually, he became the first Spaniard to reach the No 1 WPT ranking.

In 2024, his partnership with Martín Di Nenno continues to push him toward more victories, with Lebrón’s power and aggression setting him apart from more finesse-oriented players like Tapia and Chingotto.

Top 5 Women’s Padel Players

1. Ariana Sanchez Fallada (Spain)

Ariana Sánchez Fallada, known as “Magic Ari,” stands as one of the top figures in women’s professional padel, sharing the World Padel Tour (WPT) No 1 ranking with her partner, Paula Josemaría.

Born in Reus, Tarragona, in 1997, Ariana’s game is defined by her tactical intelligence and great left-side play. Her rise to the top began early, dominating the junior categories alongside Marta Ortega before making her WPT debut in 2016. Standing 1.65 meters, she tries using force and speed to control matches.

Having teamed up with Paula Josemaría in 2021, the pair has collected over 20 titles—nine of which are big wins in 2023.

2. Paula Josemaria Martin (Spain)

Paula Josemaría Martín, also known as “Paulita Dinamita,” mirrors Ariana Sánchez’s dominance in professional padel, sharing the No 1 spot in the WPT rankings.

Hailing from Moraleja, Cáceres, and born in 1996, Paula’s powerful right-side play is characterized by her sharp reflexes and aggressive net game. She likes to seize command of rallies and surprise opponents.

Paula made her professional debut in 2014 and rose fast, finally forming a successful partnership with Ariana Sánchez beginning in 2021. After claiming more than 20 trophies and ruling international events, they rank as the top women’s team overall. They are the pair to defeat since they won eight big events in 2023.

3. Gemma Triay Pons (Spain)

Gemma Triay Pons, now ranked third in the WPT.

Born in Mahón, Menorca, in 1992, Gemma’s 1.73-meter frame and left-side precision make her an interesting player that is hard to beat. Originally a tennis player, Gemma switched to padel in 2013 and became somewhat well-known very fast. Her 2017 collaboration with Lucía Sainz resulted in her first big titles; following four years of success, she linked up with Alejandra Salazar to keep consistently producing important wins.

Now paired with Claudia Fernandez Sanchez, Gemma’s experience complements Claudia’s youthful energy really well.

4. Claudia Fernandez Sanchez (Spain)

At barely 18 years old, Claudia Fernandez Sanchez has already established her reputation as one of Padel’s future stars. Claudia, who was born in Madrid in 2006, has ascended to fourth in the FIP rankings because of her 2024 work together with Gemma Triay.

Her career started in 2022; after collaborating with several partners, her choice with Gemma shot her global profile. Claudia became the youngest player ever to capture a Premier Padel title when they won their first significant championship at the P1 in Chile in 2024. Her game is still evolving, although her quick climb reminds me of Ariana and Paula’s past careers.

Gemma’s expertise, combined with Claudia’s young vitality presents a great challenge to top-ranked players.

5. Delfina Brea Senesi (Argentina)

Delfina Brea Senesi, known as “Delfi,” brings an aggressive approach to the padel court. Born in Buenos Aires in 1999, Delfi currently ranks fifth in the Premier Padel standings and has earned a reputation for her powerful play on the right side.

At 1.70 meters, her ability to hit deep volleys and force errors makes her one of the most dangerous players near the net. In 2023, Delfi partnered with Bea González, forming the popular “Superpibas” duo, and together they won eight titles, finishing the season ranked second on the World Padel Tour pairs leaderboard.

Delfi’s background in tennis, has contributed a lot to her aggressive padel style. Like Claudia Fernandez, Delfi rose quickly through the ranks, and she continues to challenge top players like Ariana Sánchez and Paula Josemaría.

Emerging Padel Players

These are some padel players thought to be the next biggest stars of the game:

1. Paquito Navarro

Paquito Navarro, currently ranked eighth in the world, is entering an exciting new phase by teaming up with young Pablo Cardona. Navarro will continue playing on the backhand side, where his precision and ability to control points will complement Cardona’s explosive play.

2. Sofía Araújo

Sofía Araújo, the 10th-ranked Portuguese, has teamed up with Marta Ortega to form an exciting duo in women’s padel. Known for her aggressive play and powerful smashes, Araújo brings an attacking edge to the partnership, complementing Ortega’s playmaking intelligence, especially on the forehand side.

3. Momo González

Momo González, ranked 12th in the world, is known for his creative play, making him a fan favorite on the Premier Padel tour. Now teamed up with Eduardo ‘Edu’ Alonso, that offers really sharp volleys to the team, among other things.
