French talent Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard is well known for his massive serves, so it wasn’t a huge surprise to hear that he actually broke the Wimbledon serve record yesterday vs Taylor Fritz in the first round.

The speed was measured at 153MPHย or 246 km/h and he therefore crushed the previous record of 148 MPH (238 km/h), by Taylor Dent back in 2010.

Maybe even crazier was the fact that Taylor Fritz managed to return the ball almost perfect and won the point.

See the clip below:

The match between Mpetshi Perricard and Fritz turned out to be a long battle, and the match will continue today due to the tournament’s 11 pm curfew. The Frenchman took the first two sets and was close to winning when he was leading 5-2 in the fourth-set tiebreaker, but that’s as close as he got. Current score is 7-6 (6), 7-6 (8), 4-6, 6-7 (6).

We reported last year about the huge serves of Perricard at the 2024 Wimbledon and it seems he stepped it up even further this time. Read more about the current racquet Mpetchi Perricard is using.
