Straight after his straight set loss against Alexander Zverev in the Rome Masters Final, Novak Djokovic announced that he will be coached by Andre Agassi during the French Open.

This is what Djokovic had to say about the upcoming partnership:
“Andre is someone that I have tremendous respect for as a person and as a player,” Djokovic said. “He has been through everything that I’m going through. On the court he understands the game amazingly well. I am enjoying every conversation that I have with him.
“But also, on the other hand, he’s someone that nurtures the family values, philanthropy work. He’s a very humble man, is very educated. He’s a person that can contribute to my life on and off the court a lot. I’m very excited to see what is ahead of us.”
What can Agassi bring to Djokovic’s game after Becker and Vajda? I think what he’s mainly looking for is some inspiration. After being dominant during a couple of years, Djokovic has trailed off a bit and the 2017 season hasn’t really been what his fans have hoped. His final run in Rome was a positive sign, but he was definitely out of steam against Zverev.
Djokovic had an excellent run with Becker in his box and it’s possible that another tennis legend can have a similar positive impact. Will Andre Agassi and Novak Djokovic be a more long-term duo? Time will tell.
