Update: No Djokovic, Draper or Fonseca…
The headline news for the ATP 250 draw WAS the return of Novak Djokovic and he was going to be the man to beat after winning the title here in 2023. However, Novak has just announced via social media that he is “not quite physically ready to compete” as he is still recovering from a shoulder injury from last year.
“My focus is now on my preparation for the Australian Open and I look forward to arriving in Melbourne soon and seeing all the tennis fans in Australia”, Novak continued.
Now we also got confirmation of the withdrawals of Jack Draper and Joao Fonseca.
However, we look forward to seeing players like Tommy Paul and local favorite Alexei Popyrin who is confirmed, as well as South Australian star Thanasi Kokkinakis that has been awarded a wildcard, ensuring the home crowd has plenty to cheer for. Other interesting names include Stefanos Tsitsipas and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.

Women’s field: A Grand Slam Preview
The WTA 500 event features four of the world’s top 10 women, led by defending champion Madison Keys. Keys used her 2025 Adelaide title as a springboard to win her first Grand Slam in Melbourne last year, and she will be looking to repeat that magic. Other key players include Jessica Pegula, who is looking for revenge after last year’s finals loss to Keys, and young talent Mirra Andreeva. Olympic Gold Medalist Belinda Bencic and Victoria Mboko are also confirmed for the field.

What’s New in 2026?
Tournament Director Alicia Molik has expanded the event this year to make it more than just a tennis tournament. For the first time, the event will host the ITF 500 Australian Wheelchair International (Quad), featuring local hero and Paralympic medalist Heath Davidson. The entertainment precinct at Pinky Flat has been expanded, featuring live music and local food trucks. The tournament also continues its tradition of Kids’ Day, offering free entry for children during select sessions.
Quick Tournament Schedule
Matches are held at The Drive in North Adelaide. Qualifying takes place January 10–11. The Main Draw runs from January 12–14 and quarterfinals are held on Thursday, January 15. Semifinals are on Friday, January 16. Finals Day concludes the event on Saturday, January 17th.
