Lois Boisson’s Racquet – Player Profile

Lois Boisson

Lois Boisson is a French player that we’ll probably be hearing more about in the near future following great play and a deep run at the 2025 French Open while not even being ranked among the top 300. Who is Lois Boisson and what is her racquet?

Lois Boisson’s tennis racquet

Lois Boisson’s racquet is a Babolat Pure Drive 100. We don’t know which generation it is, but I would guess it is the 2021 Pure Drive. Higher-ranked players usually get their racquets with the latest retail cosmetic, but sine Boisson has been injured and was ranked around 300 before the tournament, she has not received freshly painted racquets from Babolat. I am sure this will change after her impressive run at the French Open.

She strings her racquet with a black string. It could be Babolat RPM Blast, which is the most common string on tour from Babolat, or the slightly Babolat RPM Team, which Alcaraz uses.

We have no idea about tension or racquet specifications at the moment. Generally, players on the WTA tour require little to no customization from stock specs, so I would guess it is close to 300 grams unstrung (add 20 grams with strings and 5 grams for the overgrip) and a swing weight around 290-295 (add 30 pts with strings).

The Babolat Pure Drive is a popular racquet on the WTA tour, where players tend to hit the ball flatter than on the ATP tour.

Bio and Career

Loรฏs Boisson was born on May 16th, 2003, in Dijon, France and she began playing tennis at the age of eight.

She started on the ITF circuit in 2019 and turned pro later in in 2021. Boisson had a modest junior career, with limited ITF junior results, but quickly made her mark on the pro circuit. She made her WTA Tour debut at the 2021 WTA Lyon Open, in the doubles main draw.

Her breakthrough came in 2024, winning three ITF titles (Saint-Palais-sur-Mer, Lisbon and Amstelveen) getting her into the top 200 of the ranks. That year, she claimed her first WTA 125 title in Saint-Malo, defeating Chloรฉ Paquet 4-6, 7-6(3), 6-3. An ACL and meniscus tear just before the 2024 French Open sidelined her for nearly a year, but she would be back in full force!

Boisson injury in 2024

Boisson’s biggest career moment arrived at the 2025 French Open, where, ranked no 361 and as a wildcard, she stunned big names such as Elise Mertens, Jessica Pegula and in-form youngster Mirra Andreeva, reaching the semifinals, her best Grand Slam result and a historic run for a debutant.

She plays with a lot of power, a strong forehand and prefers the clay courts. “When I was young, I played a lot on clay, which is why I really like this surface.” said Boisson who specifically enjoyed watching Rafa Nadal play when growing up.
