Denis Shapovalov win dallas

Denis Shapovalov is currently the 2nd ranked Canadian player, with a career high rank of 10, and has just recently won the Dallas Open. But what is Shapovalov’s racquet?

Denis Shapovalov’s Tennis Racquet

Denis Shapovalov won the 2025 Dallas Open using what looks like the latest Yonex Ezone 98, but that racquet has a 16/19 string pattern and Shapovalovโ€™s frame is 18/20. It can still be the newest Ezone 98, but with a custom drill pattern for Denis.

He has been on and off using different Yonex strings before, but mainly Poly Tour Strike. In Dallas, he was seen with a silvery gray string that cannot be anything else than Luxilon Alu Power.

Since Madison Keys also had a really successful experience switching to the Yonex Ezone 98, we wrote an article on the new Ezone 98 being a real winner.

We donโ€™t have any information in terms of specs or string tension, so if you do, please comment below.

Bio and Career

Denis Shapovalov was born on April 15th, 1999, in Tel Aviv, Israel. He plays tennis for Canada though, as he moved there at a young age and grew up in Richmond Hill, Ontario. Known for his left-handed, aggressive baseline game, Shapovalov can challenge even the top players on tour when in form.

His mother, Tessa Shapovalova, was a former top junior player in the Soviet Union, which got him into tennis early.

Denis rose quickly through the junior ranks and in 2016, he won the junior Wimbledon title.

Professional Breakthrough

Shapovalov turned professional in 2017. His breakthrough came at the Canadian Open where he defeated Rafael Nadal and reached the semifinals, making him the youngest player to reach an ATP Masters 1000 semifinal since 2008. This year also saw his Grand Slam debut (Wimbledon), his first ATP final at the Swiss Indoors Basel, and eventually reach the top 50 of the ATP rankings.

His first ATP title came on 20th October 2019, at the Stockholm Open (indoor hardcourt), when he defeated Filip Krajinovic in straight sets in the final. In 2020 we saw Shapovalov reach his first Grand Slam quarter-final, the following year his first GS semifinal, and his first visit to the top 10 of the world rankings.

After a small drop in rankings, Denis Shapovalov now seem back in great form with a title in Belgrade 2024 and at the Dallas Open in 2025.
