It’s second round day at the Rolex Paris Masters, and we’ll be covering the two late matches on Tuesday: Rafael Jodar vs. Casper Ruud and Ben Shelton vs. Cameron Norrie, with our predictions and best bets.
Rafael Jodar vs Casper Ruud
Jodar arrives in Paris still chasing a place at the ATP Finals. He lost to Valentin Vacherot in the round of 16 in Basel last week, a result that left his Turin hopes no longer entirely in his own hands, so he needs a good week at the last Masters 1000 of the year. The young Spaniard is now the first ATP player to break into the top 10 in his debut season on tour.
Ruud began with a 6-3, 6-2 win over qualifier Juan Manuel Cerundolo and he’s unseeded this time around. The Norwegian has a poor record in Paris, though, having lost his opening match at the tournament in both 2024 and 2025.
The two have met once, in the Shanghai quarterfinals on 16 October, where Jodar came back to win 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.
Predictions and best bets
Ruud took the first set in Shanghai and will feel he can do better a second time, being quite a decent indoor player. But Jodar had the better of the last two sets that day, he has plenty to play for in the race to Turin. Right now he’s in better form and has more momentum.
My bet: Jodar to win in straight sets
Ben Shelton vs Cameron Norrie
Shelton, the third seed and a career-high No. 4, has already qualified for the ATP Finals, but his recent form has not been good. He has won only two of his last six matches, including a loss to world No. 222 Jerome Kym in Basel, and he lost to Arthur Gea in the Shanghai third round, 7-6(5), 7-6(3). He had a first-round bye in Paris, so this is his opening match, and he has a new coaching arrangement with Juan Carlos Ferrero.
Norrie, ranked No. 45, beat Matteo Arnaldi 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 on Monday in 1 hour 42 minutes, a result that kept him inside the top 50. He knows the Paris courts well, having beaten Carlos Alcaraz here in 2025.
Norrie leads the head-to-head 1-0, winning in the Cincinnati round of 16 in 2022, 6-0, 6-2. Shelton is a very different player now though…
Predictions
A battle between two left-handed players and we’ll see how well Norrie can return Shelton’s big serve on indoor courts. Two players that has not shown great form lately, I’ll expect Shelton to be fully motivated here and will get through this challenge but it might need three sets.
My bet: Shelton to win in three sets
