JOOLA has released a signature version of its Hyperion Pro V for Lea Jansen, the former Coastal Carolina University tennis player who became a top professional pickleball player. The paddle is listed just under $300 and comes in one thickness, 16mm.

The Hyperion’s elongated shape is designed to add reach, while its curved Aero-Curve profile is meant to increase swing speed. Like other paddles in JOOLA’s Pro V range, it features the brand’s patent-pending KineticFrame technology, with a throat that flexes during the swing to store energy and release it at contact.

The Lime Green and Light Purple design draws on Jansen’s well-known pre-serve routine. A lime green fade at the top left of the paddle marks the spot where she taps it against her body.

“This paddle is me, right down to the lime green mark where I tap it before every serve. After my Type 1 diabetes diagnosis, there were days I wasn’t sure I’d get back to playing my best. Working with my care team, I found a way, and I’m proud this launch also supports Breakthrough T1D and the research that will change life for people living with T1D.” Lea Jansen said ahead of the launch.

The move to the Hyperion follows spells with several other JOOLA shapes since she joined the brand in January 2023. Jansen credits the Scorpeus with improving her defense and mid-court game, and says the Perseus gave her extra reach on stretch volleys in singles. She later switched to the Agassi for singles, citing its spin and larger, higher hitting zone.

She now sees the Hyperion as a middle ground between the Perseus and Agassi. “It’s a good blend of a singles and doubles paddle,” Jansen said, adding that it offers control and plenty of spin without sacrificing much power.

Jansen has competed with Type 1 diabetes since 2021. To mark the launch, JOOLA is donating $10,000 to Breakthrough T1D, regardless of how many paddles are sold.
