Schwarzler uses a HEAD Speed MP. From what I have heard, he plays with the same model as Jannik Sinner, the Graphene Touch Speed, also called TGT 301.4. He strings it with a black string; can it be a Lynx Tour black or Sonic Pro? We are not sure. If you have more information about Schwaerzler’s racquet, please comment below.

Background and junior career

Born in South Africa to a South African mother and Austrian father, Schwärzler grew up in Hard, Vorarlberg, and left home at 15 to train with Jürgen Melzer at the Austrian federation’s centre near Vienna.

He became junior world No. 1 in January 2024, the highest ranking achieved by an Austrian junior. Highlights include the 2022 U16 European title, the 2023 ITF Junior Finals in Chengdu (making him the first Austrian winner) and the 2024 Roland Garros boys doubles title with Nicolai Budkov Kjær.

Pro career so far

2026 has been his breakthrough year, although he is still seeking his first ATP Tour main-draw singles win (0–5).

  • 2024: Won the Skopje Challenger while still junior world No. 1, becoming the fourth player to win a Challenger title while holding that junior ranking, after Nick Kyrgios, Taylor Fritz and Wu Yibing. Made his ATP Tour debut via wildcard in Kitzbühel and left the Austrian federation setup in September to build his own team.
  • 2025: Reached the Kitzbühel ATP doubles final and Sofia Challenger singles final, and broke into the Top 300.
  • 2026: Finished runner-up in Lugano, then won Challenger singles titles in Kigali (March) and Poland (August), reaching a career-high No. 150. Won his first Grand Slam qualifying match at the US Open and reached the Mouilleron-le-Captif Challenger semi-finals in October before narrowly losing to Titouan Droguet in Vienna qualifying.

Playing style

An aggressive left-handed baseliner who prefers clay, Schwärzler relies on left-handed serve-and-forehand patterns and a solid two-handed backhand, his favourite shot. His main question marks are consistency and training intensity, an area Günter Bresnik has publicly identified as needing improvement.
