Tecnifibre X-Tra Feel Grip Review: A Simple Grip That Prioritises Feel

Tecnifibre X-Tra Feel Grip

The Tecnifibre X-Tra Feel Replacement Grip is a grip that is made to give you the best feel possible. No gimmicks, no extra padding, just a clear and direct link between your hand and the racquet.

It is clear after testing it in several sessions that this grip is made for players who care more about accuracy, feedback and control than about softness or padding.

Tech & specs

Tecnifibre positions the X-Tra Feel as a minimalist replacement grip, built to maximise connection and feedback rather than cushioning or tack.

  • Thickness: 1.90mm
  • Colour: White (also available in black)
  • Texture: Semi-tacky, more feel-focused than sticky
  • Material: Synthetic

First Impressions – Plush, Classic, Comfortable

This grip feels thin and firm in your hand right away. There is noticeably less padding than on replacement grips that are more cushioned. This makes the racquet feel more connected and responsive.

Putting it on is easy, and the grip wraps around without bunching. It feels tight and precise, not soft, once it’s on the racquet.

On-court performance

Feel & Feedback

This is where the X-Tra Feel grip stands out.

You get a very direct connection to the frame, which makes it easier to:

  • Feel the ball on contact
  • Adjust grip pressure
  • Control touch shots and volleys

If you like a “bare-hand” type of response, this delivers.

Comfort

Comfort is decent, but not the main selling point.

Because the grip is thinner and firmer:

  • There’s less shock absorption than cushioned grips
  • It may feel slightly harsh for players with arm sensitivity

That said, if you already use an overgrip, this becomes much less of an issue.

Tack & Grip Security

The surface offers a clean, slightly tacky finish, but it’s not overly sticky.

  • Good grip in normal conditions
  • May require an overgrip in humid or sweaty conditions
  • Doesn’t feel slippery, but not ultra-tacky either

Durability

Durability is solid for a replacement grip in this category.

It holds its structure well over time, though like most thinner grips:

  • It will wear faster if used without an overgrip
  • Best used as a base layer

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Excellent feel and feedback
  • Thin profile enhances connection to the racquet
  • Clean, simple design
  • Works well as a base grip under an overgrip

Cons

  • Limited cushioning
  • Not ideal for players needing comfort or shock absorption
  • Tackiness is moderate, not standout
  • Can feel firm on longer sessions without an overgrip

Comparable Replacement Grips

If you are considering X-tra Feel, here are some useful comparisons:

  • Wilson Sublime Grip – Slightly softer with more cushioning
  • Head Hydrosorb Pro – More balanced between feel and comfort
  • Babolat Syntec Team – Similar thin profile, slightly firmer feel

Where to buy?

They are usually available here via Tennis Warehouse, Tennis Warehouse Europe or at Tennis Only (AU).

In summary

The Tecnifibre X-Tra Feel is a simple replacement grip that does what it says it will do: improve feel.

It’s not trying to be the most comfortable or the most sticky choice out there. Instead, it focuses on giving you a clear, connected answer, which many players will like.

This is a great choice if you care more about accuracy than comfort. See also more of my recommendations for the best overgrips.
