Wilson Ultra V5 Racquets

Written by: Jonas Eriksson | July 15, 2025

Wilson has just dropped the fifth generation of its Ultra racquet line, and we have tested the Wilson Ultra Pro 99 and the Wilson Ultra 100. But those are not the only Wilson Ultra V5 racquets.

Who Is the Ultra V5 For?

Wilson positions the Ultra V5 for intermediate to advanced players who want power and forgiveness. The Ultra 100 is easier to use and more forgiving, while the Ultra 99 Pro requires more from the player, but gives you better control in return.

Check out the new Wilson Ultra racquets at Tennis Warehouse, Tennis Warehouse Europe, Tennis Only and Wilson.com. More options: Tennis Point (UK): (GermanySpainItalyFrance) or at Racketspecialisten (Sweden).

What’s New in the Ultra V5?

SI3D™ Frame Technology

This is the headliner: a new construction that combines stability and flexibility, aiming to give you that clean, plush feel without sacrificing pop or control. It’s early days, but based on some early feedback and testing, this might be Wilson’s most balanced Ultra yet, less stiff than previous generations, but still punchy when you flatten out your shots.

Consistent Spec Control

If you’re like me and obsess over racquet specs, you’ll appreciate this. Wilson has tightened the tolerances for swing weight and balance, meaning that every Ultra V5 you pick up should feel more or less identical, no more guessing whether your frame is a unicorn or just a dud.

“Click & Go” Bumper and Grommet System

Grommets and bumpers don’t get a lot of love, but Wilson deserves credit here. This new system is easy to replace, more durable, and, crucially, made from Agiplast, a plant-based material that speaks to Wilson’s sustainability goals. Easy to work with, better for the planet. Win-win.

Electric Indigo Colorway

Say what you will about cosmetics, and the similarity in colors to the Yonex Ezone but the Electric Indigo paint job on the V5 is genuinely stunning. It’s bold, it pops under the lights, and it screams confidence, just like the frame itself. Think a modern twist on the classic Ultra blue, but sharper and edgier.

On-Court Endorsements

You’ll see a growing list of tour players switching to the Ultra V5, including:

  • Alex de Minaur
  • Maria Sakkari
  • Qinwen Zheng
  • Marta Kostyuk

Models and Availability

The Ultra V5 line will be available in seven different models:

  • Ultra 99 Pro
  • Ultra 100
  • Ultra 100L
  • Ultra 100UL
  • Ultra TEAM
  • Ultra 26 & 25 (junior models)

This ensures there’s something for everyone, from big-hitting intermediates to juniors just starting their journey.

The collection drops July 15 on the Wilson website and select retailers. And yes, there’s a matching bag line, including the Ultra Super Tour Pack (6 & 12 racquet sizes) and a stylish backpack.

Also worth mentioning: Wilson is launching a head-to-toe Ultra performance look, with Marta Kostyuk debuting the Headliner Dress and Intrigue Tennis Shoe, both styled to match the Ultra V5’s electric vibe.

Final Thoughts – Should You Demo the Ultra V5?

If you’re a player looking for easy power and modern feel, the Ultra 100 V5 deserves a serious look. The addition of the SI3D tech and more forgiving flex makes it more playable and controlled than previous versions – without dulling the explosiveness that defined the Ultra franchise.

It’s still early to call it a game-changer, but from the tech, the specs, and the early impressions, this could be the most complete Ultra yet.

Disclaimer: Always demo before you commit. What works for de Minaur might not work for your Sunday doubles game (unless you’re also clocking forehands at 90mph).

  1. Really wish they would have released that 98 tour with a 18×19 in the us. Was really wanting to try that, such a shame
