The ATP Tour will return to Vienna this fall for one of the most anticipated events of the European indoor swing. The Erste Bank Open, an ATP 500 tournament held at the Wiener Stadthalle, runs from October 18th to 26th, 2025, and will once again deliver top-class tennis as we can already see an impressive player list confirmed.

A Tournament of Prestige

Vienna has for long been a popular event of the late-season schedule and they usually attract big names. Played on indoor hard courts, it offers players a final chance to secure valuable ranking points as the race to qualify for the ATP Finals in Turin heats up. With prize money set at more than €2.7 million and a history of attracting top players, the Erste Bank Open is usually among the strongest ATP 500 draws of the year.

The tournament has already presented a strong group of participants with five top 10 players from the ATP rankings. Jannik Sinner is of course the big name drawing in the crowds. Former champion (2021) and world no 3, Alexander Zverev will return to Vienna as well, alongside Australian top 10 player Alex de Minaur. Among top Americans we find Frances Tiafoe and Tommy Paul.

The official player list also features big names such as Daniil Medvedev, Karen Khachanov, Lorenzo Musetti, Andrey Rublev and Alexander Bublik. Final entries remain subject to change as the season unfolds as final entry lists are only confirmed closer to the event based on rankings and withdrawals. Together, this mix of established champions and rising stars guarantees a highly competitive field.

The Defending Champion

Jack Draper, who lifted the trophy in Vienna in 2024 after defeating Karen Khachanov, was set to be a major storyline. Draper’s victory marked one of the biggest title of his career, but this time he won’t be there to defend it following his arm injury that ruled him out for the rest of the season.

What to Expect?

With its fast indoor conditions, Vienna often produces spectacular shot-making and close contests. Big servers and aggressive baseline players traditionally thrive, but the variety in this year’s line-up suggests we can expect a wide range of playing styles and plenty of drama in 2025.

Sinner will be a huge favorite to claim the title in Vienna, it would also give him valuable points in the race for the world no 1 spot.

The Erste Bank Open will once again serve as an important battleground for players chasing trophies, ranking points and overall momentum heading into the year-end events.
