British No. 1 Emma Raducanu has officially concluded her 2025 tennis season, same as fellow Brit Jack Draper recently announced, and she’s withdrawing from her final two scheduled WTA events in Tokyo and Hong Kong. The decision was made following a challenging period marked by physical struggles and illness during the recent tournaments in China.

The former US Open champion has been battling health issues for over a week, requiring medical attention on court during her final matches. After an opening-round defeat at the Ningbo Open where she struggled with back issues and had her blood pressure checked, the 22-year-old decided to prioritise her long-term recovery and begin her off-season training immediately.

“It has been a season of great progress, but my body needs a proper rest and reset now,” Raducanu stated.

While the early finish is a blow to her hopes of securing a better seeding for the 2026 Australian Open, the announcement did include a significant positive development: stability in her coaching team.

Roig to stay on the team

Raducanu confirmed that she will extend her working relationship with her current coach, the experienced Spaniard Francisco Roig, into the 2026 season. Roig, who previously worked as a long-time member of Rafael Nadal’s coaching staff, joined Raducanu’s team following the North American swing this year.

The extension signals a rare period of continuity for Raducanu, who has been known for frequent coaching changes since her Grand Slam victory in 2021. The pair are now set to conduct a full pre-season training block to prepare for the start of the 2026 tour.

“He is so experienced, and we have been doing a lot of hours on the practice court, which I think has been helping me, and we both like spending time on the court, which is a good thing,” she said earlier this season.

Raducanu ends her 2025 campaign having played a solid schedule and re-established herself inside the world’s Top 30, a significant achievement after the injury-disrupted seasons of 2023 and 2024.
