The 2024 Davis Cup Finals will take place from November 19th till the 24th in Malaga, Spain. Let’s take a closer look at what might happen at the event, where quite a few big names will play, including Rafael Nadal, who will bid farewell to tennis at the event.
2024 Davis Cup Odds and Favorites
A total of eight nations have qualified for the final showdown in Malaga, which will determine whether Italy will defend the trophy won last year or whether Spain, led by Nadal, can win the trophy once more.
Davis Cup Betting Odds
- Italy @ 2.75 (+175)
- Spain @ 3.25 (+225)
- USA @ 5.50 (+450)
- Australia @ 7.50 (+650)
- Canada @ 8.50 (+750)
- Germany @ 10.00 (+900)
- Argentina @ 29.00 (+2800)
- Netherlands @ 34.00 (+3300)
Somewhat expectedly, the Italian team has the shortest odds, albeit only a tiny bit lower than Spain. Most agree that these two nations are likely to win because they are led by Sinner and Alcaraz, two of the best players in the world right now.
Italy is simply favored because Sinner has been ridiculously good lately, particularly indoors. Alcaraz doesn’t play as well indoors, but Spain will have Nadal to lean on, so that will be interesting as well.

Davis Cup Finals Knockout Stage
After two rounds of ‘qualifying’, we got the eight best nations which will battle it out in a knockout stage format. The first qualifying stage happened in February where seeded nations were paired up with unseeded nations to determine which will move on to the group stage of the competition.
Notable upsets in that stage included Slovakia’s win over Serbia, who were without Novak Djokovic, which is why the Serbians won’t be in Malaga either.
The next stage of the competition was the group stage in September where nations were paired up in four groups of four nations with the top two nations advancing to the knockout stages.
Nations like France and the United Kingdom failed in that stage which is why they’re notable absentees. The teams that advanced have been drawn into a knockout stage:
- Italy vs Argentina
- United States vs Australia
- Germany vs Canada
- Spain vs Netherlands
We spelled out the pairings as they were drawn, meaning that the winner of the Italy vs Argentina match up will face the winner of the United States quarter-final. That means that Nadal’s Spain could go all the way to the final where they would face top seed Italy.
Betting Tips and Predictions for the 2024 Davis Cup
Now that we’ve looked more at the betting on the Davis Cup Finals, it’s time to lay out some of our early predictions. Here’s how we see the season’s final event unfolding:
- Italy to Win
There are a couple of reasons why Italy is considered the top favourite to win. They might not be playing on home soil but they will get plenty of fan support. They did last year as well and they won it, which is an experience that could help them this year.
The main reason though is having Sinner, who is the best player in the world right now and has been for quite some time. On top of that, they have Vavassori and Bolelli, which are one of the better doubles teams in the world.
They also have wild cards in Lorenzo Musetti, who has been and can be very good, and Flavio Cobolli, who can be a wild card with his superb potential. Mostly though, it’s about Sinner and his ability to carry as he did last year.
- Spain to Make the Final
The fairytale that many want to see is Spain winning. They are led by Nadal, who will retire from the sport after this event, and that means that the stands will be packed, not just by Spanish fans but possibly royalty, tennis and otherwise.
It’s going to be a nuts atmosphere and with Alcaraz in the fold, it’s not impossible for the team to simply find crazy inspiration and play an event for the ages. Even the doubles is not lacking with Granollers, who is excellent, and Carreno Busta, who is very capable.
Some veteran presence in the likes of Roberto Bautista Agut is also there and he has played superb tennis recently.
While we’re expecting Italy to get the better of Spain, it would be no surprise if they make the final.
- USA Are a Dark Horse
One team that shouldn’t be counted out is the USA. They’re the perfect villains to spoil the party in Malaga and they boast a really good team in 2024. Fritz, Paul, Shelton, Krajicek, and Ram are a superb lineup that have everything.
Fritz has looked really strong lately and can beat basically anybody indoors. Shelton has a massive serve and can be useful both in singles and doubles. Paul has been tremendous this year and has the skillset to win one match at any point.
Krajicek and Ram have experience and are really good tennis players, so they have everything they need to win. It will come down to how they perform on the court and that can be a bit suspect at times with these players.
