Carlos Alcarazโs Wimbledon 2025 Quest: Can He Three-Peat and Make History?
Carlos Alcaraz enters Wimbledon, starting June 30th, as the favorite to claim a historic third consecutive menโs singles title, riding an 18-match winning streak, the longest of his career. The 22-year-old Spaniard, seeded No. 2 behind Jannik Sinner, aims to cement his grass-court dominance and chase some rare records at the All England Club. With a favorable draw and recent titles, Alcarazโs confidence is sky-high at the moment.
Alcaraz, the 2023 and 2024 Wimbledon champion, boasts a 18-2 record at the tournament, a 90% win rate, second only to Novak Djokovic among active players. His 2025 season includes five titles – Rotterdam, Monte-Carlo, Rome, Roland Garros, and Queenโs Club – where he went 5-0 on grass, firing 60 aces in five matches. His epic French Open final win over Sinner, a 5-hour-29-minute comeback from two sets down, was one of the best matches we’ve seen and showed his incredible level at pressured moments. Alcaraz is 5-0 in Grand Slam finals, with a 12-1 career record in five-set matches, the best in the Open Era.
A third straight Wimbledon title would make Alcaraz the fifth man in history to achieve the feat, joining Bjรถrn Borg (1976โ80), and the second to complete back-to-back Roland Garros-Wimbledon doubles, after Borg. At 22, heโd match the Big Three (Federer, Nadal, Djokovic) for Grand Slam titles at this career stage.
“I really want to lift the trophy,” Alcaraz said, focusing on the preparation for the coming weeks. Betting odds list him as the favorite at around +140, ahead of Sinner and Djokovic, reflecting his current form with 14-match Wimbledon streak and a rather kind draw, avoiding top seeds until late. Djokovic, still a threat
Djokovic, 38, with a 97-12 Wimbledon record, remains a threat, aiming for an eighth title to tie Federer and a 25th Slam. Sinner, World No. 1, seeks his first Wimbledon and of course, he needs to show again he’s number one following the final defeats at Rome and the Roland Garros.
It’s hard not to put Alcaraz as the main favorite going into the Championships. His 8-4 head-to-head edge over Sinner and 2-0 Slam final record against Djokovic give him a great edge over the main competitors.
Alcaraz faces Fabio Fognini in the first round on June 30th at 14.35 CET. A win could set up a quarterfinal against No. 8 Holger Rune. ore on Alcaraz’s current racquet here.
