A Look Back at the Foundation
First released in 2008, the adidas Barricade V was part of a tennis shoe line built around stability, support and durability. The original model featured a synthetic leather upper, an extended Torsion System and an Adiwear outsole, reflecting the priorities of performance tennis footwear at the time.
Bringing the Barricade V back through a collaboration with Brain Dead gives the classic silhouette a new context, connecting adidas tennis heritage with contemporary sneaker culture.
Although the collaboration retains the Barricade V’s distinctive silhouette, the modern version shouldn’t automatically be assumed to play exactly like the 2008 original. We have not tried the new adidas x Brain Dead Barricade V shoes yet, a direct comparison would be needed to establish how much the on-court experience has changed.

The Brain Dead Treatment
The collaboration gives the Barricade V a distinctive new look, with mesh, synthetic panels, and metallic accents adding a futuristic edge to the familiar silhouette. Available in blue and green colorways, the design moves away from conventional tennis shoe aesthetics while retaining the recognisable Barricade identity.
It’s a meeting point between performance footwear and streetwear, aimed at fans of both tennis history and Brain Dead’s experimental approach to design.

The adidas x Brain Dead Barricade V is likely to appeal to collectors as much as to tennis players. The Barricade name carries a long association with stability and durability, and we hope to try this new line shortly.
