Bio and Career
Born on July 15, 2001, in Worcester, England, Fearnley moved to Edinburgh at a young age, where he spent a lot of time on the tennis courts. Before turning pro, he made a significant detour through the U.S. college tennis circuit, spending five years at Texas Christian University (TCU). At TCU, Fearnley made headlines, leading them to back-to-back ITA Indoor National Championships in 2022 and 2023, and clinching the school’s first NCAA Division I men’s tennis championship in 2024.
Starting 2024 unranked, by the year’s end, he had rocketed into the top 100, a climb of 547 positions to reach no 99 by 2nd December 2024. This leap is among the fifth biggest into the top 100 since 2000. His career-high singles ranking came in January, 2025, when he achieved no 77.
Fearnley’s professional highlights include winning his maiden ATP Challenger doubles title at the 2023 Nottingham Open and his first singles ATP Challenger title at the same venue in 2024.
One of the top moments of his young career was his clash with Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon in 2024. Although he didn’t win the match, taking a set off one of the greatest players in tennis history on Centre Court was a massive confidence booster and a sign of his potential.
Fearnley’s journey took another exciting turn at the 2025 Australian Open, where he reached the third round in his debut. Fearnley took out Nick Kyrgios and Arthur Cazaux before the run ended by 2nd seed and runner-up, Alexander Zverev.
