Andrea Vavassori was born on May 5, 1995, in Turin and he began playing tennis already at the age of three. He turned professional in 2014 and had Roger Federer as his tennis idol.

Early Career and Rise

Vavassori’s professional career began to see major breakthroughs in recent years, though he had been playing consistently on the Challenger and Futures circuits.

2021: He won his maiden ATP doubles title at the Sardegna Open, partnering with Lorenzo Sonego.
2022: He made his Grand Slam singles debut after qualifying for the Wimbledon Championships.
2023: A significant year for singles, he reached his first ATP singles quarterfinal at the Grand Prix Hassan II. He also achieved his first ATP Masters 1000 win, defeating Andy Murray at the Mutua Madrid Open. That same year, he recorded his first Grand Slam singles match win at the French Open in a match that lasted over five hours.

Vavassori has established himself as a great doubles player, achieving a career-high ATP doubles ranking of World No. 6 in October 2024.

Mixed Doubles Grand Slam Champion: He won the US Open Mixed Doubles title in 2024 with his compatriot Sara Errani. He also secured the French Open and another US Open mixed doubles (by beating singles stars Iga Swiatek and Casper Ruud to win the controversially revamped US Open mixed event) title with Errani in 2025.
