What is the HEAD Squared racquet? A first look

HEAD is working on something new and innovative that “challenges everything you expect from a racquet”. Images of a racquet line called the HEAD Squared have been circulating online for a while. Let’s have a look at what we know so far.

A new racquet line

The HEAD Squared appears to be a completely new racquet line, separate from HEAD’s existing Speed, Prestige, Boom, Extreme, Gravity and Radical families.

Beyond the name and early imagery, HEAD has not officially confirmed specs, release dates or pricing and there are no play-test reports or technical breakdowns available yet. We will review this racquet ourselves in the near future once we receive it so keep a look out for that! Make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel and turn on notifications.

Squared?

The “Squared” name is intriguing.

The name likely refers to the unique drill pattern and head shape. It features a more rounded hoop that creates a square-shaped grid in the center of the string bed. This is designed to provide a more consistent hitting sensation across the sweet spot.

It is built to be “super stable” while remaining remarkably light and maneuverable with an easy swingweight to handle more power. Early reports suggest it has a very head-light (HL) balance, making it easy on the wrist. With the new design it should give decent power, spin and also control while remaining very light overall. We also understood that it will feature a different material for a new feel and comfort. The question is if will take away too much of control as we know it’s always a tough thing to balance.

Where it Fits in HEAD’s Lineup

HEAD currently runs several major racquet lines aimed at different player types:

  • Speed – All-round, endorsed by Sinner and Djokovic. Just relaunched for 2026 with Hy-Bor tech.
  • Prestige – Control-oriented, classic feel. Due for an update.
  • Boom – Power and spin, neon aesthetic, younger audience.
  • Radical – Mid-range versatility, popularised by Agassi.
  • Extreme – Spin-focused, good power.

Where does Squared fit? It seems to be positioned as a “versatile modern frame” aimed at a broader demographic and might target recreational to intermediate players (and possibly coaches). Easy power are the key words connected to the HEAD Squared.

What to Expect?

Until HEAD officially reveals specs, everything here is educated guesswork. We will update this post once information comes available.

Possible specs range:

  • Head size: 100-110 sq. in. (larger to maximise the sweet spot advantage)
  • Weight: 270-295g unstrung (accessible, recreational-friendly)
  • String pattern: 16×19 (spin-friendly, forgiving)
  • Technology: Likely Auxetic 2.0 and possibly Hy-Bor given HEAD’s current tech rollout

The standard model, which we assume is called MP, has the following unstrung specifications.

295 grams (strings add 20 grams approx)
64 RA (drops 3 pts when strung so pretty flexible)
30 cm balance (VERY head-light, the most head-light balance I have seen on the market)
268 SW (strings add 30 pts), this is also very low and will make the racquet fast to swing but perhaps not stable

This is according to Henrik’s measurements on the Babolat RDC.

When Can We Expect It?

No official release date has been announced but we would think it will be available within the first half of 2026. We would assume May.

Our Take

The HEAD Squared is one of the more intriguing among recent racquet teasers as it’s a completely new construction. We’ll be following this one and update once we have more information. If you’ve seen any additional information on the HEAD Squared, drop it in the comments below.

  1. Maybe squared is a cousin to Gravity line. Instead of a teardrop shape, it will be more square. And Germans I was told on YouTube are very adamant about their traffics laws being followed accurately. So perhaps squared signifies a racket that would appeal to those with sound mechanics and favors precision. Head is based not too far from Germany.

  2. Seen it in Youtube being tested in Australia and its looks is so simple and basic in color but the swing and hit results are so promising. Can’t wait to have one as a long time fan user of HEAD rackets.

  3. in the lineup you totally forgot their best line: gravity. the tour model of the gravity line is the best racket in 2025-26
