You might have seen Coco Gauff at the United Cup with a lavender-colored racquet. This is the HEAD Boom 2026.
HEAD have already teasted this racquet release, planned for March, on their Instagram account. They seem to be sticking to their strategy of having two different cosmetics. Lorenzo Musetti will be endorsing a sharp light blue, while Gauff is playing a lavender-purple design.
The new HEAD Boom 2026 will be released with Hy-bor in the layup, which worked well in the Speed Legend Pro and Speed Tour we have reviewed. We are unaware of any mold changes or new models for the HEAD Boom 2026 racquets, but we hope to get our hands on some demos before their release.
The Boom is a power racquet

The Boom is HEAD’s power line of racquets now that the Instinct is pretty much extinct. It competes with the Yonex Ezone, the Babolat Pure Drive, Wilson Ultra and Dunlop FX V3 in the power category. Some brands have powerful racquets that kind of merge the spin and power categories into one. I’m thinking of Tecnifibre with their TFX1 (which will now be called FIRE) and Solinco with their Blackout V2.
The Boom 2024 is lower on the stiffness scale so it is not quite as powerful as the Pure Drive or the Ezone. We will see if Hy-bor and some possible other layup tweaks changes that for the 2026 Boom.
If you want to know more about Coco Gauff’s racquet or Lorenzo Musetti’s racquet, we try to cover pro player gear for the top 100 on ATP and WTA. You can find a list of our player profiles here.
Let me know if you have used the HEAD Boom and what you think of it and the new 2026 cosmetic.

Really interested in BP 2026. I’m still using the BP2022 and I like so much.
Hope the 2026 will retain the same playability and provide some raw crisp feeling as the 2022. Hy-bor technlogy seems to work fine and I’m willing to test the neq boom iteration to check if worth the upgrade of my abused 2022.
For sure I’ll going to test whenever possible.
Hope to see a review before the official release.
