Alexander Bublik has officially entered the top field of men’s tennis. With a commanding 7-6(2), 6-3 victory over Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti on Sunday, Bublik captured the Hong Kong Tennis Open title, securing his debut in the world’s Top 10 for the first time in his career.

The victory marks a historic milestone for Bublik, who becomes the first man from Kazakhstan to ever reach the Top 10 in the ATP Rankings.

A Dominant Start to 2026

Bublik, known for his unpredictable and creative style of play, showed great focus throughout the week at Victoria Park. Entering the final as the second seed, he faced a challenge from Musetti, who was also making a historic climb into the Top 5 despite the loss.

The first set was a tight game, pushed to a tie-break where Bublik’s variety and net play proved decisive. He reeled off six straight points to take the opener. In the second set, Bublik’s improved defensive baseline play allowed him to break Musetti twice, closing out the match in 98 minutes.

The Road to the Top 10

Bublik’s rise to the Top 10 is the culmination of a sensational 12-month turnaround. Just last April, the 28-year-old was ranked as low as World No. 82. Since then, he has actually been one of the most consistent winners on the tour and he has won 34 out of his last 43 matches since last May.

Bublik was also voted as the most improved ATP player in 2025, among Tennisnerd readers.

  • 9th Career Title: Hong Kong marks his fifth title since June 2025.
  • Recent Wins: Last season, he lifted trophies in Halle, Gstaad, Kitzbühel and Hangzhou.
  • Grand Slam Progress: He reached his first major quarter-final at Roland Garros last year.

“The only goal for this season was to achieve the Top 10, and in the first week, I am winning the title and I have made it,” Bublik said during the trophy ceremony. “If you told me that last April, I would have never believed you.”
