Wilson Pro Staff 97 Classic

There is a new Wilson Pro Staff V15, just released. We hope to review it shortly.

The players on tour endorsing the Pro Staff like Grigor Dimitrov and Jiri Lehecka, to name two players, are already using the Pro Staff Classic inspired cosmetic.

According to sources, the new Pro Staff V15 will be slightly more forgiving and powerful, following the trends and needs of modern tennis but still retaining that crisp and classic Pro Staff feel. But I have also heard sources say that it will be just a cosmetic update from V14, which in all fairness was a great racquet.

Update 16 January: The new Pro Staff v15 is now available at Tennis Warehouse (USA, Canada), Tennis Warehouse Europe (code TNERD10 for a 10% discount), Tennis Only (Australia) or at the Wilson official shop. You can also check availability for the Pro Staff 97 Classic over at Amazon here.

As a racquet nerd and nostalgic, it’s difficult to argue with the design getting inspiration from the legendary Pro Staff Classic which was endorsed and used by so many players. The brown-ish Wilson Pro Staff V14 did look pretty classy, but many seemed to prefer keeping it in the tradition of black racquets like most previous generations of Pro Staffs.

Now it’s back in black and with the yellow and red stripe calling back to the PS Classic design. Let me know what you think of the design. This post will be updated with specs and tech information as soon as Wilson release more.

  1. This cosmetic is great! Not a big fan of the V14’s. Unfortunately there are not many Pro players using this frame anymore. Federer’s endorsement is not there anymore and I’m afraid the Pro Staff will be just an old classic.
