HEAD Speed Pro Legend Review

Written by: Jonas Eriksson | November 16, 2025

HEAD has released the 2025 Speed Legend line, and the standout for me is unquestionably the Speed Pro Legend. After spending time with it on court, I can say straight away: this is one of HEADโ€™s best racquets right now.

Introducing Hy-Bor

The first thing you notice is the feel. Compared to the 2024 Speed Pro, which had a more muted, dampened response, the Legend Pro brings back that clearer, more connected sensation on impact. I assume this is thanks to the new Hy-Bor technology in the layup. This is what Tennis Warehouse Europe writes about it:

“For 2025, Head introduces a new material technology called Hy-Bor, which puts compression-resistant boron fibers in the shaft to create a more stable and connected feel through impact. Additional technologies include the return of Auxetic 2 in the yoke and handle to further optimize the feel and response.”

You feel the ball on the strings in a way that inspires confidence, especially when youโ€™re working the ball around the court. Control is excellent, and players who value precision will appreciate what HEAD has done here.

Playability and performance

That said, the launch angle is lower. This is not a racquet thatโ€™s going to help heavy topspin players get the ball up and dipping. If you like to flatten out your shots, drive through the court, and take the ball early, the Speed Pro Legend edition rewards that style beautifully. But if you’re a big spin guy, you may find yourself working a bit harder to clear the net.

At the net, the racquet truly shines. Itโ€™s maneuverable, crisp, and solid enough to put volleys away with authority. There’s no flutter, no instabilityโ€”just a clean, predictable response. It makes you want to come forward more often.

On serve, it’s what I would call “neutral in the best way”. Itโ€™s not going to give you free power, but itโ€™s not going to hold you back either. If you have a good serve, the Speed Pro lets it play. Placement and consistency are strengths.

Compared to the Speed MP, the Pro feels more dependable and consistent overall. The MP is lively and user-friendly, but the Pro gives you that extra degree of precision and reliability that advanced intermediates and advanced players will appreciate.

Summary

Overall, the HEAD Speed Legend Pro is a superb frame, controlled, precise and wonderfully connected. If youโ€™ve been waiting for a Speed model with more feel and a purer response while still maintaining the characteristics that make the Speed line so popular, this is the one to demo.

Nothing really innovative or surprising, but with the classy cosmetics and performance, it is difficult not to give two thumbs up to this top-tier release from HEAD. One of their best racquets currently, if you ask me.

    1. Hi Pao, I would consider HEAD Hawk Touch, Toroline O-Toro Spin, or Restring Vivo, all good options. You can string relatively low in this one and it still offers control. Around 49 lbs/22 kg and possibly even lower.

  1. I really love the Pro and really like the launch angle when stringing it 21 kg in the mains and 22 kg in the crosses. Tecnifibre Black Code Orange / Lime really work well, also Toroline strings (tried Wasabi, which works fine). With the 2022 Pro, I really liked Black Widow, but haven’t gone back to that since.
