Swiss performance brand On, in collaboration with tennis legend Roger Federer now presents the second-generation performance tennis shoe, THE ROGER Pro 2. It’s built as a competition-grade hard-court shoe that emphasizes stability, traction and a low, connected-to-the-court feel. This is the highly anticipated successor to the original Roger Pro tennis shoe that has been endorsed by several pro’s on tour including Iga Swiatek and Ben Shelton.
Key Features and Upgrades
The Roger Pro 2 builds on its predecessor with some improvements tailored for hard or clay courts:
- Enhanced Durability: A new abrasion-resistant woven mesh upper, reinforced rubber toe cap, and lateral TPU clips improve longevity and support, addressing wear-and-tear concerns from the original model.
- Superior Traction: An open herringbone outsole replaces the first generation’s smoother tread pattern, offering more predictable grip and better agility on hard courts. A clay-specific version is also available.
- Responsive Performance: The shoe retains On’s signature carbon-fiber Speedboard for stability and energy return, paired with a high-performance foam midsole for a firm, connected-to-the-court feel. Official heel-to-toe drop is 8 mm; independent lab measurement recorded 9.1 mm, both contributing to precise footwork control.
- Breathable Comfort: A breathable mesh upper, perforated tongue, and internal half-bootie construction promote airflow and deliver a secure, glove-like fit. An extra eyelet enhances lockdown customization.
- Weight and Fit: At 14.4 oz (around 407 g) for a men’s US size 9, it’s slightly heavier than average but feels quick thanks to its stiff, responsive build. It fits slightly small, with a medium-width toebox and limited toebox height, which may not suit players needing extra cushioning or space.

Style and Colorways
The hard-court THE ROGER Pro 2 is available in White & Pink for both men and women, with some regions also offering All White and Arctic & Pink editions. Clay-court versions come in White & Black, Ice & Pink, Lime & Limelight, and Chambray & Lime. These designs prominently feature On’s branding on the sides and tongue; while some of the broader Roger collection includes Federer’s personal “R” logo.
Looking ahead, a limited-edition “Black Lime” colorway, the first predominantly black Pro 2, is set to launch later this year. Additional seasonal color drops are expected as well so keep a look out for that.

Who is it for?
The Roger Pro 2 targets advanced players prioritizing stability, court feel and speed over plush cushioning.
Playtester reports describe the Pro 2 as stable and responsive with excellent traction, but firmer and less heavily cushioned than many modern court shoes – a “connected” court feel that suits aggressive movers and players who prioritise stability and quick direction changes. Players seeking plush cushioning or lots of flex may prefer other models. Some players are also experiencing a slight toe pinch or a bit tightness around the outside near the toes.
Pricing and where to buy?
Priced at around $200, The Roger Pro 2 is a bit on the expensive side but it’s a great looking shoe and it has a lot of pro’s in our opinion. Very good traction, decent durability for a speed shoe, feels pretty light even though it’s over 400g, great lacing system and more.
