Juncheng Shang, Alex Michelsen, Arthur Fils,  Jakub Mensik, Learner Tien, Luca van Assche, Nishesh Basavareddy and Joao Fonseca successfully qualified for the ATP Next Gen Finals, which will be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, from 18 to 22 December, 2024.

While we still do not have odds out at the bookies, we will take a look at the upcoming tournament and predict the winner. We will also name you a dark horse of the tournament, who we believe will go far in the tournament as an underdog.

Arthur Fils To Win The Tournament

Arthur Fils (image above) is the biggest favorite here in Jeddah. Currently ranked at 20, Arthur made an impact this season. He was consistent throughout the whole season on every surface. His last significant result was winning the title in Tokyo, defeating Humbert in the final. Earlier this season, Arthur also captured the title in Hamburg, upsetting Zverev in the final.

There are big expectations from the Frenchman who played in last year’s final in Jeddah. Arthur won the Green Group last year and ended up winning all group matches. Later on, Fils defeated his compatriot, Luca van Assche, in the semifinals. Fils crumbled under pressure in the final match and lost in the deciding set against Hamad Medjedovic. His last tournament was in Paris, where he lost his 1/8-Final match against Zverev in three tight sets.

We believe that his experience will prevail in Jeddah. Arthur already has a lot of big matches behind him, so we expect him to be calm under pressure. He also loves to play on the indoor hard courts, which fits his game perfectly. It is safe to say that Fils is no longer a next-generation player but rather a top-20 player who has yet to show his best tennis.

That being said, Arthur Fils winning the tournament is a value bet.

Dark Horse – Nishesh Basavareddy

Next-Gen American Nishesh Basavareddy is a 19-year-old upcoming star that you might consider in your Next Gen Finals betting. He spent two years at Stanford University as a two-time ITA All-American. Nishesh began this season ranked at number 457. This has been his breakthrough season, leading to him being ranked at number 138. Basavareddy is a highly disciplined, hard-working player.

Basavareddy lifted the Challenger title in his last tournament in Puerto Vallarta and successfully qualified for Jeddah. He also lifted his first professional title this season in Tiburon, winning against Spizziri in the final. Basavareddy was excellent under pressure and looked mature during the most crucial moments of the match. His mental strength is one of his biggest weapons.

So far this season, Nishes has won two titles and lost a couple of finals as well. Being an American, Nishesh spent most of his career playing on fast, hard courts like this one in Jeddah. We expect him to perform his best tennis in Jeddah and make it to the knockout stage, where anything can happen. We believe he will be one of the underdogs in this tournament and that you will get good odds of him making it past the group stage.

That being said, Nishesh Basavareddy getting to the knockout stage is a value bet.
